The Family Dollar on the other side of town did that this year. They're now a mashup with Dollar Tree.

These types of places are starting to take off. I suspect more people may be sick of driving to and fighting crowds at Walmart just to get a couple essentials if there's a place around the corner.

It's not bad. It is a lot more convenient for me because it's just down the road. Walmart and Publix are pretty close to me too, but having the little Dollar General for just that one thing is nice.

Charmin Ultra soft. I tried the Charmin Ultra Gentle and didn't really like it, which was a problem because like a fool I bought the biggest damned package they had so it took forever to get through it all.

I don't like Cottonelle, it just feels kinda like it flakes and the texture is not nice.

The one near me went through a renovation within the last year. It went from kind of a grubby place to having some fresh produce and nice shelves. They did a huge expansion of the cold and frozen food section. What used to be just a few cold cases against the front wall now goes the front wall and then down the connecting side wall practically to the back of then store.

It actually is more like a proper mini mart now. It has more name brands than I remember finding in the Dollar general I went to as a kid. In a vacuum, if they'd have taken the dollar general branding off the store and I wandered in I would have taken it for a a nice little small town mom and pop neighborhood market.

This is why my standard response is a non commital response and moving on with my day.

I once came to work in the morning to get things opened up and saw our security guard outside taking pictures of the sky with his cellphone. I asked what's going is there a rocket going off, a fair assumption because we're in Florida on the Space Coast. He says no and then starts on about Chem trails. I let him go for a minute or so, I just said "huh, interesting" and went on about my day.

Another time during the pandemic I was going to the store. I had a mask on and some guy said something about hearing "DeSantis is fixin to ban masks". I just shrugged and kept moving.

I don't have time to engage foolishness, and I'm not paid to correct it.

I absolutely do. I picked up the habit from my best friends mother. On nights where I would stay over she would have a tray with two Bowls of milk and spoons up there before we woke up. Then you just pour your cereal.

It also helps because I don't eat anywhere near the kitchen. I'm upstairs in eating. So I'm not having my cereal get soggy. Also I don't immediately start eating as soon as I sit down. So if I want to wait a few minutes before I start my cereal is not soggy.
