Essentials for people: Food, Shelter, Healthcare. 1) Food incentives: All food sold in the country can apply to have their food qualify as "high nutrition/low luxury") If that food qualifies, then that is among the only foods a UBI user can buy. Rice, beans, in season common fruits and veggies. Passes. Cakes pastries junkfood, would not. (low quality innards likely pass (pretty high nutrition! and low cost usually), high quality steak and lobster wouldn't) 2) Shelter: Rent free for studio apartments only. (square footage, and if 2 people are living in the same place, then double the square footage is allowed) 3) Free healthcare, but slow and not your choice of doctors, nor the high costing highly skilled. I think that might be enough to get UBI working. People who want luxury will work for it. Oh, and people need something to occupy their time with. Free community college / online courses / training, and access to gyms/ city pools. I think UBI is inevitable, or there will just be riots and crime galore. UBI is there to stop that. --- |
