It really depends on the rest of the cast. Ensembles in particular generally lead to more of a focus on the villain (FF6 being a prime example), and those aren't really that prevalent compared to narratives with a clear main character.

Golden Sun, yeah, but Phoenix Wright and Pokemon are pretty god damn loved on SA. As far as LP's go, Phoenix Wright was one that initially seemed unLPable (and trust me, there's a lot of effort between formatting the script, making the GIFs and organizing screenshots to making all that work), though a LP has finally been completed a year or two ago. And the Pokemon LP ban was initially because it invited a lot of low-effort fodder LPs, but it's been gone for a couple years now and Pokemon LPs are as popular as ever, especially the fan games like Reborn.

Also Quovak's probably my all-time favorite LPer, I really enjoyed his deconstruction on Golden Sun's flaws and Chrono Trigger's strengths.

There's no "No, I'm not traveling because all my friends and family are where I live" type option, which would be my choice. Feels like there's a couple other possibilities missing as well.

Fifth option suggests you're gonna be completely shut-in for the holidays (which, GameFAQs, yeah I get it), and sixth is the same except you're working. They just all seem weirdly specific for a poll with six choices to me.

Batman would struggle to get 45% on Alucard. The only people here anymore are those that really care about video games, many of them more than other media. Batman or Darth Vader won't do shit. Goku's the only one I could see threaten the lower Noble Nine-tier characters, and possibly even the highest non-Link tier if he gets a bandwagon going.

But we really don't need fictional characters since we just had a damn contest that was exciting and unpredictable and wasn't majorly affected by rallies. Next contest still has a lot of unanswered questions, and if we do another Games contest or GotD before then things could still change dramatically.

e: Plus they'd be bigger rally targets, and we all know how much this board loves rallies.

Cloud has improved on Link. Thus if we assume this pattern continues, then every future poll will have Cloud always improving up until he eventually beats Link. If we continue and have Cloud keep rising, eventually we'll reach a point where the number of polls Link wins is equal to the number of polls Cloud wins. You can lose and just accept it. Yeah, you'll be a bit upset your character didn't win, especially if it's in a heartbreaking fashion, but then you accept it, move on, and enjoy the rest of the contest.

I was rooting for Mario and enjoyed the squeaker win against Samus. He fell to Cloud, and that's fine with me. I can respect that Cloud's still showing some impressive strength and get to see if he can still prove he's the site's #2 in what looks to be a slightly closer version of the previous match. I got to watch lots of cool upsets, some midcarders rise to elite status, and a few newcomers impress, even if some of my favorites didn't make it very far.

All in all, this was a great contest and I'm glad after sixteen years we still have great experiences like these.

Your posts over the last 24 hours have been insulting in their sheer mind-numbing repetitiveness.

It's fun to exaggerate feelings in this contest because otherwise I wouldn't find later rounds very fun. I don't like any of these characters (and I'm hardly the only one continuously calling Mario a villain).

A lot of people get way too invested in these damn contests. It's kinda ridiculous how angry people are getting over rallies or Mario winning close matches or Nintendo being dominant or whatever the hell else.

It's a spectacle. The story lines are cool, it's always nice to see who goes up and down, it's always a joy to see everything I know turn out to be wrong, it's a fun and dumb diversion from the other shit in my life. I learned not to get heavily invested in this shit in 2003, and I still have as much fun watching all this as I did back in 2002 and 2003 when things were ten times as chaotic.

Can't you all just enjoy the contest without making everything god damn life-or-death?
