ep 1: great
ep 2: had its moments but not more than decent
ep 3: good, really hamfisted monologue at the end though
ep 4: poor, don't think it was ever actually actively funny
ep 5: good, very solid
ep 6: great
ep 7: great, probably best of the season thus far
ep 8: very good, somewhat throwaway but it works
ep 9: good, akin to ep 3 in that the end monologue (oh and some repetitive jokes) take a lot away from it
ep 10: meh, v eyeroll inducing having so much >tfw to intelligent type stuff in one ep.

I thought the finale was pretty great since it undercut the tone of the entire season and shit on Rick after developing him to basically be a god.

it just felt really tacked on and didn't seem to come to a meaningful development imo, just hit the reset button and that's it.

you can't just say X for 9 eps only to say Y for 5 minutes of the 10th and expect it all to balance out.

i will also say that i think they've gotten kinda lazy with the sci fi element of the show too. every ep involves either magicing up a new dimension or w/e or having loads of wacky technology. feel like they actually made an effort with the world building before

so yeah still a good average but a lot more weaker stuff than other seasons.

i also don't really understand the constant 'i am so smart!!!' stuff throughout the season. i had always imagined some sort of payoff to the repeated monologuing but instead we get....like 2-3 minutes at the very end where Rick is no longer in a position of power in the family? the payoff is a big reset which probably won't make much of a difference anyway come season 4?

it just feels underwhelming that so much awkward writing didn't really lead up to the 'deconstruction' harmon is so much vaunted for.

but overall it was good tbf

Its so bizarre, I like it while listening to it but it doesn't leave a lasting impression on me at all which is the first time that's ever happened with this band

i think they did their thing, built up to some cool crescendos in the two main 'suites' and both of them were suitably interesting enough in their own right.

probably an overall more 'upbeat' release than a lot of their stuff too.

their last album had a bit too much mid album drone for my liking
