VS predicted the meta's going to come down to Soul DH/Control Warrior/Highlander Hunter but holy moly, is 3-Mana-And-Under-DH ever good!

I decided to make a final hours push for Diamond 5 and got there by winning my first 8 games in a row, with only 2 of them being competitive. The streak wasn't broken until I had lethal on turn 8 against a Warlock who played Twisting Nether into two of the free 6/6 taunts. Even then I dealt with them and had lethal again two turns later, only for him to drop Y'Shaarj and put them both back on the field. Darn!

I kept playing for a while longer and finished 18-4 for the day, on the verge of Diamond 2 when the month ended. Think that's the best extended stretch I've had in Ranked, though I haven't checked my stats to be sure. Silly me, would have had Legend if I'd just started playing a little bit earlier in the night.

Losses were two Control Warlocks, one Quest Druid who got insanely lucky on his board clear, and a weird Priest who discovered 100 removals and then discounted them all to almost 0 mana.

So yeah if you're looking for Legend in December I highly recommend

Notes:

• VS recommends a second Mana Burn instead of the Kayn, but I think that's crazy talk. He singlehandedly won me 6 or 7 out of those 18 games. If you know you're against someone who's going to put up a taunt wall like Clown Druid or Rez Priest, just cycle hard and keep him in hand and you'll have lethal soon enough.
• (Don't get me wrong though, the Mana Burn wins some games as well, like when it locks Paly out of his Consecration on T4. Overall though I feel the deck can cycle hard and restabilize after a board wipe most of the time, and being able to attack through late taunts is way more important.)
• It's nice that this is such a budget deck but I have to say, the Epic Steppers are absolute must-crafts. The +4 attack out of nowhere got me out of jams on turn 5 about a million times, and your board is full of big threats so constantly that his natural 4 damage often ends up getting home despite his pathetic health.

I didn't get the hype- there was a character battle just before I played LiS for the first time and a few people were trying so hard to get Kate in so I was seeing her name everywhere. Naturally I assumed she'd have some huge role in the game instead it was just a scene or two and I said "that's it?!" and couldn't believe she was getting such a huge push for something so small.

Thus she doesn't compare to the other LiS girls in my personal rankings, but she's still cool.

I had the craziest time last night as I was opening my last batch of new Faire packs!

First pack, BAM it's that stylish superhero named Inara Stormcrash
2 normal packs
then out came Sayge, the new Mage Legend
3 normal packs
then out popped the new C'Thun
4 normal packs
then Rinling's Rifle was in the next pack
2 normal packs
following pack contained a Golden Ringmaster Whatley

7 Legendaries in 18 packs! I've had some hot streaks before, but never anything close to that run. I thought my client must have glitched out or something, but no, it was legit. After telling my friends how insane my luck was I decided to keep opening and see if the legendary heater would continue.

Next 4 packs were normal
then out came Kiri of Elune
following 10 packs were normal
before Tickatus arrived
following 7 packs were normal
then I found Tenwu

So my streaks were 7 in 18 packs, 8 in 23, 9 in 34, and finally 10 in 42 packs for the entire evening. At that point I thought Blizzard must have updated the draw odds (normally I average 1 Legend per 18 packs opened), but I posted my results on the official HS discord and everyone there freaked out and said their odds have all been normal so far, and they'd never seen someone get as lucky as I just had.

Nope still no time, but I do want to say how proud of America I am! Or more correctly, how proud I am so far.

That was a confusing, frustrating four days, with lots of misinformation flying every which way- and yet there were no mobs on the streets, no one setting fire to buildings where mail in votes were being stored, all the protesting at the counting centers was peaceful. Here's hoping we'll be okay now that we've gotten through the most potentially dangerous week.

I didn't post my map but it ended up being pretty solid- called 48 out of 50 states correctly (plus the right split in Nebraska and Maine), if the current results hold. My EC number was way off though.

I took Montana for Biden as a long shot based on their excellent early vote numbers, and also picked Texas to turn blue for the same reason.

Biden would need to earn 63% of the remaining vote. I do think the mail ins will be more kind to him than the in person voting was, but let's be real, this is Alaska- even the mail in voters aren't going to go all California on us.

Trump would need to earn 57% of the remaining vote. Over the last two days he's averaged... 56.6%. Holy smokes, what a nailbiter! The majority of what remains is from a county that's been very kind to Trump in the last 36 hours, HOWEVER election insiders are predicting the final batch of mail ins are going to be more friendly for Biden (because they're from Democrats who turned them in by hand on Tuesday).
Ngamer Sez: Biden takes these 11 electoral college votes, but this is a tight 51/49 kind of proposition

Georgia

• 1.8k lead for Trump
• ~10k mail in votes yet to be counted

Biden would need 58% of the remaining vote. He's collected 66% of the mail in vote over the last 48 hours, so that's promising. Better yet for him, all the remaining areas should be super friendly, and indeed he's been spiking out high 70% and 80% mini-batches all evening.
Ngamer Sez: Biden takes these 16 electoral college votes, but it's going to take weeks to see if the provisional ballots and military mail in votes flip the result (I don't think they will)

North Carolina

• 77k lead for Trump
• ~191k mail in votes yet to be counted

Biden would need 70% of the remaining vote. He's averaging 50% of the mail in vote over the last 48 hours... however very very little has been coming in, so that's not a reliable sample. This comeback is certainly possible (the votes are from most of Biden's most favored areas), but it's a long shot... and also it's going to take forever to complete.

Trump needs 54% of the remaining vote. That sounds doable enough, but the only batch we've seen in the last two days went only 50/50, and most of the outstanding ballots will be coming from the Vegas area which is generally favorable for Democrats. This should be close, but I'm confident in my pick.

Biden needs 55% of the remaining vote. He's averaging 78% of the mail in vote over the last 48 hours. Some of Biden's best areas like Philly are now mostly depleted... but it doesn't matter, the mail vote was SO overwhelmingly Democratic across the whole state that Biden keeps making huge cuts no matter what counties have been reporting their totals (as I talked about in the opening post). His last few batches have been 67%, 79%, 87%, and the hits just keep coming! This one is donezo, and two days from now it won't even be close.

Yikes, what a heart-pounding Election Night that was! I hope all Biden supporters kept my Viewing Guide in mind and didn't get overly hopeful when Joe got out to unrealistically good starts in Florida, Ohio, and Texas (the "blue mirage" where mail ins were counted early). Likewise I hope all Trump supporters remembered the Guide and didn't mistakenly think it was time to declare victory after the unrealistically good starts in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan (the "red mirage" where mails ins would be counted last).

Regardless, I've gone ahead and taken my Early Vote numbers and combined them with the hard count we've seen so far plus the best estimates of what votes are still out there. The result is the official (okay, estimated, but I think it'll be close)...

Not a bad update for Trump, all things considered. He fell only 95,589 votes farther behind and cut Biden's lead by 0.28%. This goes to show how the Mail In ballots that arrived in the final couple days were significantly more kind to Trump than those that arrived earlier (which is reflected in what we're seeing play out in Arizona right now), because Republicans were scrambling to catch up to the Democrats in Returned Ballot %.

That gave us a final Early Vote Total of

If we throw out the Early In-Person Vote and focus on ONLY the Mail In Ballots, Biden pulled down 62.25% of them nationwide. This explains why Joe is not only piling up huge numbers over the last two days out of Milwaukee and Detroit and Atlanta, but is even making small gains as the mail ballots are tallied from rural Pennsylvania counties that favored Trump in person.

At the end of the last topic I said Trump was going to need to win 66.3% of the Election Day vote to pull even with Biden, but that was based on my original estimate of only 150 million votes cast. When expanded out to the actual total of 159.6 million, he needed only 63.6%... which is obviously still a tall order! Trump put together an amazing run and did manage to dominate the Election Day vote, but could only push the final result as high as 57.5%.

Mercy, what a beatdown! With most In-Person voting having closed down (only about 1 million new ballots arrived) and the mail ballots catching up from yesterday, Biden went wild and extended his lead by a further 499,446 votes. One notable observation: more Democrats submitted an In-Person vote today than Republicans for the first time this cycle! Fortunately for Trump he did a little better (proportionally) with the mail ballots and was able to manage a percentage cut as a result, but it was only a miniscule 0.28%.

Maybe that doesn't sound sooooo bad, until you consider it mean defeating Biden by 30.6% over the course of the next 24 hours- and swinging the overall race to this point by over 46 percentage points!

(Those numbers are based on the original 150 million votes estimate, if we're more generous and extend it out to 160, Trump still needs 63%.)

Some important (and sensible) states were allowed to start doing an official count of their early votes over the weekend, which likely means they will be close to having a full tally to put online as soon as their polls close. Since the early voting swung so far Democratic across the board, that means these states will almost certainly start off looking super duper blue- but if you're a Biden fan, don't get too excited! The results will start swinging in Trump's favor as the county by county Election Day vote rolls in over the course of the next several hours.

Step Two - Beware the Red Mirage!

For some (incredibly dumb) reason, some important states aren't allowed to start doing an official count of their early votes until their Election Day polls have closed. Since the in person Election Day voting is likely to swing so far Republican across the board, that means these states will almost certainly start off looking super duper red- but if you're a Trump fan, don't get too excited! The results will start swinging in Biden's favor as the county by county Early Vote count rolls in over the course of the evening (and into the next day... and the day after that, and possibly another week or two).

Pennsylvania
Michigan
Minnesota

Step Three - Beware Everything!

In some important states, there's no universal rule on when early ballots can be counted and when they should start being reported. Watch out for violent swings in these states, as they might drop the Mail In totals all at once and completely swing the results, or they might come in county by county for a smooth transition depending on how red or blue that area was. There's just no telling.

Step Four - Be Prepared To Wait!

Usually we expect a winner to be announced before we head to bed on Tuesday. (Well, night owls do, not so much East Coast early risers.) That's going to be very unlikely tomorrow! Because of the unique situation regarding the pandemic and how states all tally a little differently, plus the fact that some states are woefully unprepared to count through their millions of early votes (because they usually only get a hundred thousand), we're going to need to be patient and wait for full state by state results after every vote is counted. This process is likely to take days, possibly all week, and maybe even all month.

A stroke of luck for Trump- nearly perfect voting weather across the country tomorrow.

Only exceptions are a little rain in the Pacific Northwest (of course) and 10 degrees below normal with a possible dusting of snow in New England.

Yes, but there's lots of states that aren't allowed to start officially counting the mail in ballots until tomorrow morning, Wisconsin is one of them. All the other battleground states are registering the ballots as "received" in the official database but not checking who they've voted for, which is where all these numbers come from. Penn isn't doing that part.

Ultimately it won't matter, it's just annoying right now because we're flying nearly blind on what might be the #1 most important state this year.
