I love Murray but didn't think he had a large enough body of work to be in the running. I'd list him in a Funniest Living Person poll though.

Depp and Norton have been great but they've hopefully got another 20+ years of excellent roles, I'll put them in the poll then. (And I'd be saying the same for Spacey if not for, you know.)

Eastwood and Ford are iconic, and great Movie Stars, but they played different flavors of themselves for their whole careers and rarely moved me.

Connery was great but I felt he's been out of the game too long (without as strong a body of work as someone like Jack to make up for it).

Hoffman, Penn, Caine, Hackman - all incredible and they were very much considered, would have been some of the first to go on an extended list.

I gave him serious consideration but decided to pick some other options that have been in the game a little longer. I do think he'll be considered one of the true greats by the time his career is over. (But looks like that's not going to be for a long time yet- IMDB has him active/just completed for seven projects right now!)

All 10 in the poll are amazing actors, but you only included one 'chameleon' actor, and I think those are the best kinds of actors, as they can blend into roles seamlessly. 9 of these 10 (while fantastic), always feel like the actor. So for that reason, I voted Daniel Day-Lewis, as he always takes on a drastically different persona, and it can be tough to distinguish what kind of a person he truly is.

Very true, he's the ultimate method actor and I think it's fair to count that as a major point in his favor. He's even said he struggles to return his voice to his normal accent for months after finishing his roles, because he can't get out of the head space of his most recent character.

Can someone explain why people are mad about the new Pokemon? I've watched every Direct and feel like I've got a good handle on the game. I can say with confidence...

- the Pokemon get big. like, SO LARGE
- some of them live in pots, and they're made of tea, and if you're kind to them they'll let you drink some of their very life essence
- everyone keeps saying "Gala Region" every five minutes for some reason
- if you pet your friend's Pokemon just right you'll pop a tent and get invited to spend the night
- Pikachu's in there
- something with Pokemon Go?

Well, IMO B8's done a good job identifying the three top contenders, and I can't disagree with Smash being the favorite. Had plenty of hype, was well received at launch, and still has buzz/is staying fresh in everyone's minds thanks to the slow roll of new characters. That being said, I don't think it should be as enormous a favorite as these results indicate, for a couple reasons.

- the Switch has been a huge seller since late 2017, almost all those new owners get a Mario to go along with it, and almost all of them come away absolutely delighted by the game. (at least, that's been the case for the four people I know who have been late adopters of the console in the last couple years) this gives Odyssey some serious potential for growth since the one poll we've seen it in, the GotY from right after it came out. not enough to reverse the result against Breath of the Wild, let's not be crazy! but maybe enough to reach #2

- if every day of the bracket brings more Nintendo domination (which seems likely) and we appear to be headed toward an All-Nintendo Final (ditto), Skyrim is going to make the perfect upset candidate. it's been everywhere, released on everything, universally acclaimed, and you can't dismiss the memes! I feel like the smallest spark could ignite a major offsite rally, and it honestly wouldn't need THAT much help from the internet at large as it's already top notch on this site just from its natural strength

Skyward Sword, Sw/Sh, and FF15 aren't going to be anywhere near the running.

I would have included Undertale over any of those.

Zelda's surprised us in GotD before (and every other bracket since 2005, frankly) so I wanted an option for it. But yes with BotW in the bracket SS is so overshadowed, I probably should have picked A Link Between Worlds, if anything.

Wanted a Square option as well so I'm okay with 15, but I think you might be sleeping on Pokemon. GameFAQs has always favored consoles and with the Switch's huge install base (both on this site and worldwide) I think it'll be a smash hit this Christmas to the point where people could still be excited to support it in early 2020.

EDIT - Oh and also I think it's worth considering as a rally candidate; the potential at least is always there, as we saw versus Undertale.

- really like Houston's logo, playing tribute to the Oilers legacy and turning it into a neat H. unique team name too. top marks!

- DC Defenders is also excellent, I like the super hero direction instead of falling back on animals for the 100th time

- speaking of which, WILDCATS, seriously LA, you settle for the most already-overused name in all sports?

- fantastic work by Seattle, good name and I love the Dragons logo

- LA's name is embarrassingly generic but it still beats BattleHawks, the worst name I ever heard (okay maybe not the WORST but if you use that name the logo needs to be a fierce bird, this flying sword is a disgrace)

- weird that Texas gets two teams while the other 49 states settle for splitting 6 between them

- boo to creating another sports franchise for Floridians to not support. fire Tampa and move the team to Chicago, the Midwest is badly represented

I'll root for the Dragons until the Vipers are moved to the Midwest.
