I don't have Greymane, so I just kinda plopped some stuff in a deck and called it regular ol' Midrange Paladin. Sorta preparing for the Call To Arms nerf, I dunno. Anyway, as I was trying to figure out what final card to put in, I was debating between Mind Control Tech, or Tirion, or a few other things, but what I ended up going with was Azalina Soulthief for a possible late-game reload. I was 2-3 with it up until this point, and a priest comes up. Turn 1 Quest. Alright, Fatigue Priest. Depending on if he finishes his quest, I might actually have a better shot against him, since I run bigger stuff than your average Paladin. He's holding his own early with two early Beetles, but I get to the point where I really don't want to play more or I'll get Psychic Screamed. He gets me with Spirit Lash instead. I read that he doesn't have it, so I go on the offensive with Knife Juggler and Call To Arms, and THEN he Psychic Screams. But that's OK because both my Stonehill Defenders also got shuffled, so there's tons more value to be had. Tirion gets Mind Control'd, but I accounted for this and have Spellbreaker and Tarim to kill it before shenanigans arise. Next turn, a Defender comes back and I now have a second Tirion to play later. Unfortunately, second Tirion and everyone else go back into my deck again. As much value as I'm getting, I am actually running out of cards in hand, but I've kept him on the back foot for most of the game and he's not really played much besides board clears. However, it turns out he got Death Grip from his Lich King and wouldn't you know it, out of a good 13 or so minions still in there, it happened to grab Tirion. Time for Plan B. I play Lost in the Jungle, the 2-drop Lifesteal Rush, and Azalina, which is basically all that's left of my hand. He's way further into fatigue than me, so I know as soon as he plays it, I just play mine and then no more Amara's in the game. But he has Zola for it, so that plan goes on hold. The game goes on a good while longer, until he begins fatiguing, and I still have 7 cards left. I wonder how this possibly ends well for him, when Benedictus comes out. Game back on. The entire rest of the game turned into me stealthily trying to dump cards, but not too many to tip my hand, so I can Azalina again, while he was mostly trying to minimize the damages to his face. He gets a few points into fatigue and finally drops his second Amara, so I follow suit and Amara back so he can't get another, while flooding the board. The following turn, I see what he has left and it's Azalina/Alexstrasza/Glass Knight/Lich King. So now he's taking 5 fatigue damage and then I'm taking 4, and we both have Alexstrasza. It's now a game of who can put together the surefire plan to be able to deal 15 damage in one turn. He takes this to mean he has to Alex me before I can get a headstart. I didn't have enough damage on the board to kill him that turn, so Alex'ing him would've left him with an opening to win. I don't remember quite how the last few turns go, but the answer for me was to save Alex to put me back up to 15 on the final turn before he could kill me, so I could do just enough chip and fatigue damage to him from his 25 health starting point. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/162396569289752576/447675355990327297/unknown.png I friended the guy, thanked him for the awesome game and we started reminiscing about the good old days of Deathlord where we both happened to main Fatigue Priest. I guess the moral of the story is, Hearthstone is actually fun sometimes, and not all its players are douchebags! | MrSmartGuy 05/20/18 12:13:53 AM #448 | Just ended a Wild game as Hunter with two Kel'Thuzads on the board when I had none whatsoever in my deck and no way to generate any. Went up against an Even Shaman who Coin->Dirty Rat'd on Turn 1 and pulled out my Sylvanas. I played Mad Scientist and passed, hoping to force him to play stuff to deal with it, since I knew he wouldn't be able to Hex until Turn 4 now, but I forgot Devolve was a card. It turned my Mad Scientist into a Crystalline Oracle, which then gave me HIS Kel'Thuzad. I was able to play it on Turn 8 and get back 3 minions. He didn't have Hex, so I was then able to use Faceless Manipulator on my own Kel'Thuzad. On Turn 4, he had only played 4 Engineers and nothing else, so I was trying to speculate what his other card could possibly be, when my mind stumbled on it. I had 1 Armor, so I went ahead and Flurry'd them away, and that turned out to be the difference-maker. I figured I'd see a lot of Paladin and Call to Arms, but I didn't come across any, and I have learned that it doesn't really beat anything else. Until I faced a Priest who had the bright idea to bring Northshire Cleric/Circle of Healing. I switched over to Bring It On/Reckless Fury, and THAT I can recommend, if you want some really fast and some really slow wins. "Anduin. Versus....." If it's because I ignored someone being toxic in the last topics, and they made a new one, whoops. Maybe don't be so annoying from now on. Anyway, I was playing Quest Control Priest and matched up against a Hadronox Druid who: 1. Was able to ramp with 2 Wild Growths and then Nourish for cards 2. Played a Lich King on turn 7 3. Naturalized his Hadronox on turn 8 4. Rez'd it and Cubed it on turn 9 5. BM'd almost every turn from turn 7 onward. Meanwhile, the only things I ever did before the turn the Lich King came out was play my quest, one Loot Hoarder, and a Shadow Vision that whiffed on Psychic Scream. And I came back and fucking won. I wanted to wait until I actually did something substantial before doing an update, and boy was there just something substantial I just witnessed. Shulk did a cool thing for once. Sort of, anyway, but I mean AT LEAST HE'S THINKING ABOUT THINGS THIS IS WHAT I WANTED. I don't know what saving Mumkhar is going to do in accomplishing his goal of learning about the Homs-in-Mechon outbreak. It's not like Mumkhar would've ever told him why, but again, he's fucking talking through his feelings and goals like he's, I dunno, traveling with a group of people he trusts, for once. Hallelujah. And then as if the game decided I was too happy with where things were going, Shulk gets a vision of Fiora dying again and like a god damn nincompoop, tries to hide that fact from the others.
