Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS (3DS)

Finished the 18 pre-made worlds, the secret 19th world, and did a 100 Mario Challenge on Normal (nothing was unlocked for doing so). I think that counts as beaten.

How did you like the 3DS version? I've wanted to play some version, but heard this version was stripped down kinda bad.

I liked it. The premade worlds are great, and include two different challenge goals in each which gives it lots of replay. And for creating your own levels it's great, and I like that it includes all the additions that were patched in later (checkpoints, keys, etc) on the physical media.

They did remove the amiibo costumes and the ability to upload to or search the level server, but personally I never cared about sharing my levels, and the amiibo costumes were a gimmick I tired of pretty quickly. Searching is something I miss more, but you can still get a good mix of levels in the 100 Mario Challenge, and you can select a difficulty level there which IIRC you couldn't on Wii U. Oh and the NSMBU graphics look kinda bad, a lot worse than the same art style was on 3DS in NSMB2, but it's not so bad you never want to play those levels.

Overall I'd say the Wii U is the better version, but the 3DS is by no means a bad game, and it has a lot of great content that the Wii U lacks.
