Ugh episode 22 of S1 of Chihayafuru was the first terrible one so far.

Yumin just straight-up cheated, ugh. And Chihaya just blandly let her do it for some reason. I hope this BS card contesting never returns again, it trivializes the whole game if it just comes down to 'actually I hit it lol'

I legit don't have a preference. Both Taichi and Arata are great choices for different reasons. I like it when the childhood friend wins and Taichi is a supportive friend (he was a jerk as a kid though). Arata has the karuta angle working for him since a lot of Chihaya's passion for the game leads back to him.

Basically I'm hoping this ends in a threesome, they're both great.

I just thought the cast of Endro was too one note. Granted the cast of the other anime aren't much better but there are at least directions I could see them going

Season three wasn't even that bad, it had a fun song about beef stroganoff. But when Symphogear is bad it's really damn bad.

I'll admit my anime cred has fallen away. I've only watched like a dozen shows from 2019.

I've been busy with other hobbies but my crazy backlog isn't helping either. I figure I should whittle that down before starting anything else that catches my eye but most of the shows I haven't finished are ones that suck. Do I really want to watch two more seasons of Symphogear? No, I don't.

I should probably just get over my no-drop phobia and drop like thirty anime and move on from there.

I've started three anime from this season so far. Watched all three episodes of each.

Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?! is fun so far. As a light-hearted isekai about cute girls it's like a slightly better Endro. I like the characters more in this.

Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun is fine, though I'm not sure the concept of a human bumbling their way through every demonic situation will hold up for a whole season. Also I'm usually a fan of high-energy annoying characters and the green haired demon is almost too much for me.

Ascendance of a Bookworm is slow, but it's my favorite so far. A person with future knowledge trying to recreate modern inventions in a less advanced era is an inherently interesting concept to me.

I finished Actually, I Am (aka Jitsu wa Watashi wa). It was pretty good, I liked Aizawa a lot and the rest of the characters were fun too. Shiho was the only weak link imho. Sadly, the last few episodes got kind of stupid and it had too much of a non-ending for my tastes, but I still enjoyed it well enough.

I don't like pizza, but my taste buds are screwy so most of what I eat needs to border on being flavorless. I suppose there might be some variant of pizza I could theoretically eat but tomato sauce alone precludes all of the popular ones.

Hyouka was just too mundane for me and I hated a few of the arcs (the movie mystery resolution and the Valentine's episode in particular).

School-Live was a top-notch cute girls anime except it had an additional layer that made the fun they were managing to have feel so much more meaningful. Yuki Takeya is a top 10 anime character imho

I've only seen three episodes of Oreimo and SNAFU and they didn't grab me. I didn't hate them though, I'll get back to them someday. Haganai I finished S1. I liked the lusty nerd and the two little girls but the main trio were kinda meh. I will also get back to it someday.

That was just one idea of what Epic could do to give the consumer something. Another would be having a decent store.

When you don't give the consumer anything other than a measurably worse experience, don't act all surprised when they don't want to go to your store and don't appreciate it when you force them to.

Knights of Sidonia was one of the first anime I watched and I liked it quite a bit.

On another note, since I'm sort of getting back into anime I dug out the sheet with my old backlog. Of the shows I've started that I want to finish (which includes a bunch where I only watched one episode) my backlog is 853 episodes. Guess I better get started!

I played it a few years ago and thought it was amazing. If you have a group of board gaming friends who are willing to join you for the long experience there aren't many things I'd recommend more (really only Kingdom Death Monster and 7th Continent beat Gloomhaven imho). I mostly played with only one other person but people can easily drop in and out so in total we had like eight people participating, which was good because some support heroes don't really work with two people. Pretty unique selection of heroes to choose from, too. I have fond memories of pulling off insane invisibility combos with the void hero.

Only downside is that you can really only play through a copy once since the game changes as you play, but you'll be getting a whole lot of mileage out of that playthrough so it isn't a rip-off or anything.

I was away for a few weeks and even now my free time is almost non-existent, but I miss anime. I caught up on Cinderella Nine the other day. It's fine (I mean, it's hard to screw up cute girl sports unless you go the HaneBADo route) but it's definitely not good enough to be the only thing I'm watching.

Are there any other fun shows this season? I glanced at Crunchyroll and the only ones that looked like light-hearted fun seemed like they were shorts.

I should've listened to all the warnings to stay away from gacha games. It starts as a free mobile game featuring characters from an anime I liked and a fun rhythm game aspect. Now GBP owns portions of both my wallet and my soul.
