Flu affects 5-20% of Americans each year even with vaccines and in built immunity. Covid spreads way worse and has no in built immunity or vaccine. For example if the flu had 10 rounds of spread that's around 56 people infected. Covid would give you 2000+ infected after 10 rounds. It would easily hit the vast majority of the American population. So then we have say 250-300 million infected. 20% require hospitalisation so 50-60 million hospital beds used up, not even factoring in anyone else who needs hospital beds. 5% lets say net ICU and ventilators (15 million btw).
