Muslims invented algebra

So the Babylonians and Greeks are Muslims now? Muslims didn't give a shit about math until 800's. The Muslim Abbasid caliph al-Mamun (809–833) is said to have had a dream where Aristotle appeared to him, and as a consequence al-Mamun ordered that Arabic translation be made of as many Greek works as possible, including Ptolemy's Almagest and Euclid's Elements. Greek works would be given to the Muslims by the Byzantine Empire in exchange for treaties, as the two empires held an uneasy peace. Many of these Greek works were translated by Thabit ibn Qurra (826–901), who translated books written by Euclid, Archimedes, Apollonius, Ptolemy, and Eutocius.

Diophantus (a Greek) was known as the father of algebra.

Everyone is looking at their phones that they fail to see the babies. It's all a social satire on our dependence on technology.

Win at roulette a bunch of times. But not like have it land on 34. But have it land on evens and reds. Stuff like that.

Bet $500 on odd win $1,000.

Bet $1000 on black win $2,000

Bet $1000 on split win $18,000

Lose a few $200-300 bets.

Go all in on like $3,000 on a single win $108,000.

Leave and not come back for a couple years.

Are we talking about actual items or cultural advancements? I'd say the greatest advancement was agriculture. Being able to grow our own food brought us out of the hunter-gatherer phase and into the phase of cities and the beginning of technology.

The thing about it is farming isn't easy. It's much easier being a hunter-gatherer than it is to set up in one area and grow crops. It's a question that anthropologist often wonder. Why we went from hunter-gatherer to growing crops.

It depends on who you ask. Mississippi is probably low tier among everyone though. West Virginia is a pretty shitty state. But it's more in line with how poor and on heroin everyone is. Mississippi and Alabama might suck, but at least they got a coastline.

As for New Jersey it has a lot of problems. but a lot of it probably stems from NYC giving them shit all the time.

Florida is pretty bad in terms of weird crime. But it still has a lot going for it, and its not completely depressing.

California has ideologies all both ends of the spectrum and all points in between. See the 2016 Sacramento riot, and the 2017 Berkeley protests.

I was at the Berkeley one just to see how it was going to go down. It was interesting that the police in Berkeley really don't give a shit and just let protesters leftist and right wingers fight it out in the streets.

Wait, you're homeless and you're paying for a subscription to satellite radio? I get that not subscribing isn't going to make the difference on you finding a home, but wouldn't that be better spent on a Planet Fitness membership or something? Then you could have a place to take proper shows and they have (admittedly unhealthy) food.

>Not negotiating your contact to only pay $80 a year.

I may be homeless "not for long in the process of moving in with some roommates again." but I admittedly ate pretty well. (not having to pay utilities, or rent meant I had a lot of money for food).
Actually I probably ate better while being homeless than when I was living with people.

I used a setup like this and cooked most of my meals in parking lots and parks.
https://content.backcountry.com/images/items/900/JET/JET001B/ONECOL.jpg

Also I always showered at truck stops, or rest areas. At least at these places you got a sense of privacy.

Paying something like $250 a year to use a shower was pointless. Also the gyms around here "from what I've heard" typically frown on having homeless people use the showers and nothing else. The last thing I wanted to do after walking 16-20 miles a day at work while lifting microwaves and mattresses was lift weights or walk some more on a treadmill.

The trick to staying clean and going without showering is to work at a pace to never sweat. It was pretty easy to do from late September to about this May. June has been hard giving the string of triple digits we had out here.

Using some wet paper towels to wipe one self down and proper deodorant goes a long way in maintaining the image and smell of being clean.

There are many more bands than that who ruin classic rock. I used to think it was my favorite genre, but eventually I realized I only genuinely like a small amount of bands. Pretty sure I drank the Kool-Aid a bit too much on the edgy "born in the wrong generation" culture and convinced myself that meant I had to like all classic rock.

I think a big part of it is the classic rock standards are overplayed and over-hyped for what they are. I can appreciate the songs and bands for what they are and what they did, but I've heard enough for a lifetime. There are only a couple classic rock bands that I still enjoy because I enjoy everything they did. Yes and The Who being two of them. But in all honestly I'd rather listen to New Wave/Dark Wave, and classic alternative.

I mainly stick around the first eight, then depending on the mood I'll go down or around that list. The shows on First Wave are pretty boss though.
