Breath of fire 3's desert of death is a pretty good base to use, so lets make this more shitty.

This area requires a certain party. (Think like how in tales of xillia 2 you had to use a certain group of characters in the main story missions). The required group is the shittiest members of the party. No healers of course......well, you got this one hybrid's character's weaker area of effect heal.....better make this work, lol.

There is poison areas everywhere.

There is super poison (think elden ring's rot) everywhere also.....the kind that cannot be cured with your standard items and status spells, this status effect severely cripples your stats and takes huge chunks of HP every 3 steps or so. This can only be cured using extremely hard to come by item....this item cannot be bought and has like a 5 percent drop rate from a mob that appears like 1 out of 60 random encounters.

Yeah, there is random encounters that is overtuned breath of fire 2 SNES style.

This game has weird unity engine shitty load times where even the PS5 and PC using NVMe SSDs is taking like 5 seconds to load into random battles, and like over a minute if you die and need to reload at the last town.

Also there is no quick-saves and save points in this area....the last time you could have saved was back in this town that is about a 15 minute walk to this region.

This area also has bullshit shin megami tensei type transportation tiles. Hopefully you remember the ones that will specifically dump you right at the end of a super poison tunnel.

Also you have to escort a dog through it.......better stay on top of healing this dog with those aoe heals from that hybrid character, lol.

Final fantasy since I am a bit more a classic jrpg fan compared to a strategy jrpg one. *It also bothers me that we are still missing a decent chunk of non localized fire emblem games. Similar to the tales of series in that regard*.

Nah. My PS1 was a Christmas in 97' gift. All it came with was a demo disc. I had to ask for that copy of final fantasy 7 and a memory card.

Ah man, if I had to pick 2 games where me and my friends+brother legitimately expected them to be good and thus we pre-ordered was resident evil operation raccoon city and left alive.

Operation raccoon city for the concept of you and your buddies playing a co-op rainbow six-like squad based game where each character brings something to the table and womg you kill the resident evil heroes!!,l. Suped for left alive because my brain just assumed it would be this cool-aas action/stealth based 3rd person game with 3 playable characters thus 3 separate stories set in the front mission universe, and occasionally hoping in and out of wanzers would be similar to that old SNES game metal warriors. Also the box art is drawn by the metal gear solid guy so the game has to be awesome right!?

With that said I did get hit with a extremely stupid spoiler nkl moderation on the star ocean 2 board when star ocean 2 r first came out. Showed my post to another moderator and they agreed it was really dumb and shouldn't have happened, but it is what it is lol.

I think it was downloading a fake anime episode of either outlaw star or gundam wing off kazaa.

I remember trying to play the fake episode only to find out it was a executable file that all kinds of fucked up my PC. Turned my desktop to this ugly green and yellow theme with a skull and nuclear symbol as the wallpaper. Almost all of my programs and such deleted or hidden away to only show links to buy this virus scan and remover.

Took me like 5 days of messing with my PC on and off before I got it all straightened out. I had to hop on my dad's PC, do a ton of searching to find out what exactly this shit that was infecting my PC was, learn how to use torrents just so I can download bootleg retail versions of these specific malware/trojan etc. removers I needed, download a bootleg windows XP because lord knows what happened to the one that came with my PC, burn all of these to blank CDs so I can run them off safe mode on my PC and whatnot.

Its usually something on gamefaqs thats for sure, lol. I am pretty sure I got blocked by someone who got upset (which ironically enough I was supposed to be the one emotionally invested about the sales) in that final fantasy 7 rebirth sales topic on this board like 2'wish weeks ago or something like that.

Around when star ocean 2 R got announced there was this topic on the xbox series s/x boards where some dude was throwing a hissy fit about the game not having a xbox version, and according to him the reason was because sony paid to keep the game off the xbox. Me:...."this makes absolutely no sense. What reason could sony possibly have to spend money to keep whats basically flashy remaster with a few remake elements of this old a bit niche jrpg away from the xbox, a console that is all but dead in japan and does not have a huge jrpg gaming community on the console? Also this is a game that is also releasing on the switch and the PC day 1, so it isn't like this is a exclusive game or a paid exclusivity time period type of deal".

Dude was mad/starting a argument and 100 percent convinced sony paid for star ocean 2 r to not be on the xbox. (Final fantasy 7 remake was brought up as an example, but this also is nowhere near equivalent to star ocean 2 R's situation since FF7 remake right from the beginning was known to be a behind the scenes sony funded/playstation exclusive with a PC port incoming. That and FF7 specifically is just a way bigger name that in their eyes was actually worth paying for).

That whole thing was just fucking stupid, and I am pretty sure the topic is still archived and available to read.

Also the character yamato from one piece is a whole can of worms that gets pretty heated discussions on both this website and reddit.

There is a bit of people who are genuinely upset that remake/rebirth does not play out like a more standard action game similar to devil may cry/god of war etc. where you can just stick to using standard square attacks, occasionally busting out a triple slash or focus strike, and only using cloud.

I love how the devs made it to where you are constantly swapping between your 3 members (the person you control always getting aggro encourages the player to swap more) to build pressure, increase the stagger, make the stagger last as long and to increase your damage multiplier, and how every move a character has fills a specific purpose. The game is still a classic rpg/final fantasy game utilizing your ATB bar actions at the right time, but nah.....there really is people out there that upset that the game does not play like the action game they want it to be.

Not even kidding when I say FF7 remake/rebirth's battle system combined with how materia works (more so when you get to hard difficulty, even though I am having a lot of fun on the initial rebirth playthrough on dynamic mode) in these games is the most fun I ever had playing a final fantasy game.

X-men on the NES. Younger gamers who grew up starting with the PS1/saturn/N64 generation of consoles is fortunate not having experienced LJN's garbage. As bad as superman 64 was it felt like a masterpiece compared to the x-men NES steaming turd.

I am almost completely positive the reason why just so many of us went into kingdom hearts 1 blind during it's release is because of that awesome commercial with simple and clean playing and "you never know who you will run into next" *sneaks a shot of sephiroth in there alongside disney characters to really get the "ok what the hell is this it looks amazing" energy* (this alongside many other squaresoft commercials aired constantly during WWF raw is war):

I got backed over by a car when I was 8 years old in 91'.

Luckily I ended up face down and it happened in the dirt, with the car's back tire going over my back. (It was like this church event thing and a lot of cars was just park around in the grass). No doubt would have died had it been like on concrete or something like that.

The only thing I remember from this accident was having the entire emergency room terrified since I was pretty much covered from head to toe in blood.

My dad was going to kill the minister dude that hit me from what my mother told me. Took mad people to hold him back when he got to the hospital.

You are better than me......when I see someone's clothes sitting in either the washer (like you said, for hours after they have already been washed) or dryer I just take the clothes out, either sit them right on top of the washing machine/dryer or a chair, put my stuff in the wash/dryer, and when I am done with my stuff I just take the person's clothes and put them right back where I originally found them lol.

Bottom line: if a game sells gangbusters or even simply at expectations, the developers have no reason to be tight-lipped about it.

There was many posters around this site just going off of reviews and how quiet a release it was (since it dropped on the exact same day dragon's dogma 2 did) that automatically assumed rise of the ronin was a failure. "game sucks" (just parroting what the more negative reviews were saying about the game), "PS5 exclusives don't sell shoulda' been on PC", "etc. etc."

Come to find out thanks to tecmo-koei's financial updates that the game's sales are surpassing the nioh series and that its been on top of sales charts in japan since it's release. Outside of that financial update they never said a word about the game.

To this day I have still yet to beat twilight princess.

I didn't have a problem with the game itself.....I just got tired of the unneeded waggle controls mad quick since twilight princess was my first wii game and so I obviously had to get that version compared to the gamecube one.

.....really wished I got that gamecube version instead. At least fishing on the wii port was cool.

Again, just because there are exceptions doesn't mean Sony doesn't have a big problem with unnecessary censorship and strong arming companies (specifically targeted at Asian developers) into adhering to its Californian HQ standards. My guess is that their teams can't target all the games, or that tormented souls isn't your standard anime game, so it didn't catch their eye. These are just guesses of course.

So whats the excuse in why a game like tormented souls has uncensored nudity in the first 5 minutes of the game (on a traditionally attractive character)? This game is niche indie title and far from popular.

Zidane, butz, zack, cloud (I seen that cloud and red 13 gold saucer hang out scene and yeah, remake-verse cloud is relatively chill when he ain't freaking out) tidus, post dark knight cecil and squall would all be pretty chill to hang with. Overall its got to be zidane though.

Ninja gaiden 3 was definitely a sweat-fest on the NES, even more so since so many companies back then got in the habit of increasing the difficulty for north american versions of games for the sole purpose of getting people to rent the games more/actually buy the game. (The rpg "americans brains might hurty hurt so lets give them this easy mystic quest final fantasy game and a easier version of FF4" was more the exception then the rule. Everything else we was getting like contra hard corps and one hit deaths compared to having HP points like in the JP version was rough, lol).

Yeah imo both ninja gaiden 3 and castlevania 3 (NA) were a good deal harder than lost levels.

To be fair when it comes to dynasty warriors, all those old warlords were pretty damn hardcore so they are just doing the only thing they knew for their time period.

Like the dynasty warriors games try to play up shu as the benevolent ones but nah, historically liu bei was totally on-board to ditch his kid (the one who's nickname andou means incompetent or something like that, lol) and straight up ambushed his cousin for his lands. They were a band of assholes running from another band of assholes (cao cao/wei).

All in all, your lu bu slaughter is totally justified.

To be honest, yeah. Being a dick in star wars knights of the old republic just felt awful I can't lie, lol.

How did you guys like the story compared to Tales of Symphonia?

Tales of symphonia's story is a good deal better since it sticks with what its trying to do for the entire run. Vesperia's has this weird thing where it starts off good enough, pops off in it's second act, but instead of ending on a good note there they push for the antagonist out of nowhere for it's 3rd act. Out of nowhere antagonist pops up here and there before you know they are an antagonist for some possible backstory on them, but the problem is bandai-namco saw it fit to make their optional scenes completely missable via vesperia's notorious time window scenes+side quests.

A certain character that tries to murder the MC never gets followed up on at all so the whole 3rd act was sloppy as hell.

That is vesperia in a nutshell......fun as hell game when the gameplay opens up, does everything a good tales of game does well when it comes to optional mini-game content, but the plot fizzles off so hard that to this day I'm the only one out of my friend group that ever soldiered on to finish that boring 3rd act and I always thought the extreme time-locked side content blew ass (I don't have a problem with the amount of side-quests......I just don't like all that perma' miss-able stuff if you take like 5 steps in this one direction).

I wouldn't doubt it. Lady definitely did not give a single shit about wapol's shenanigans fighting right outside the castle she pretty much swiped from him way back when so I get the feeling she would have handled that if it came down to it, lol.

Its a fun game when the gameplay systems really opens up........like 10 hours into the game it feels like. This is the tales of game that takes the longest for the real fun gameplay parts to pop off like, ever. (Seriously, you shouldn't have to actually gain a passive to backstep or like, switch characters in-battle).

The plot is completely inoffensive. Its not terrible, but its not amazing......its just there.

Its a good game.

Yeah. One of the things I like the most about remake/rebirth is just how many characters benefited with having extra characterization to them (also personally I did not feel barret was too bad in remake). Aerith is the one character who for decades was just a sort of "eh, shes there and she is ok" and to me always was the bland one, and then when remake drops she is pretty great all around.

Sounds like my kinda' movie, lol.

Gameplay, yes.

Plot, hell no.

There's some areas who are so small that the only way they can get games without ordering them online is through GameStop.

Like I said before, the video game selection at my local wal-mart, target, and even best buy these days is just going to be the mainstream stuff. Your 2K sports titles, EA titles, whatever ubisoft is current slinging etc. Now we had a mom and pop video game place......that only lasted about 4 years before they shut down.

Whenever I am getting a video game thats a bit more niche/a limited or collector edition release then it has to be gamestop. Like my tormented souls disc, hades disc, after image deluxe edition, any falcom game or nis game is coming from gamestop.

Amazon is not a option because pre-ordering brand new games from them is god awful down my way. Even with prime you ain't getting shit for like at least a week when it comes to these smaller games.....poor bastards who pre-ordered the mega man battle network collection physical didn't even get theirs for 2 weeks up towards a month from amazon. Meanwhile those of us who pre-ordered at gamestop just went to the store (or actually got it from their online store, but man the online store shipping price is bonkers from gamestop these days).

Yeah, because my local spot is convenient for me for whenever I do decide to get a physical game. It really is about 5 minutes away from my house during light traffic.

*Both my local best buy....which has a video game section that looks pretty dead these days, and target is way the fuck out in my town, both being right next to my town's mall. (Yeah, I still have one of these that is decently populated. Rural south carolina town here). They are about 17ish to 28ish minutes out. That a waste of gas, lol.*

Said local gamestop is a part of the same stripmall as the wal-mart, but I don't feel like going into wal-mart if I don't have to its always packed damn it. Its just convenient....tommorow I'm going to my mom n' pop pharmacy to pick up my meds, swing by gamestop for stellar blade, maybe swing by the chic fil a in the same spot as said gamestop+wal-mart for some nuggets n' lemonade and I'm back in the house in like 15 minutes.

I was going to type out a lengthy post, but I think this one sums it up enough.

We already have our game rating systems like the ESRB, PEGI, Cero, etc. etc. As long as the game isn't breaking any rules for the age group the game is going for then that should be that.

I doesn't have to be extremes when it comes to female characters.....like they are either eye-candy or well-written. Video game history's most popular female characters were just sometimes.....both for their time periods. Samus, lara craft, and jill valentine etc.

(I am willing to agree that someone like tifa genuinely did get most of her fame for just being hot though. Got to call it like I see it on that one, lol. Aerith always had a good bit of popularity also but tifa definitely won out. FF7 remake and rebirth is going good things to give them more characterization though).

Its one of the rare FF worlds that gets repeated visits to be honest. Probably the 2nd most out side the big one FF7's world.

I already had a PS5 since launch day but stellar blade is the type of game I'd be getting regardless. I like a lot of japanese made and a good deal of korean made games since they tend to go for a lot of style with their stuff. I like action games, and I do enjoy playing various souls-like type games so getting this game is a obvious thing for me.

I'm the type of guy that hates missing out on a video game if I genuinely want to play it, so if I didn't already have a PS5 for whatever reason I would have bought one at least 2 months ago. (To also play FF7 rebirth).

Right after they give it to you via IV you are sitting there at first talking to either the nurse or family/friend if someone came with you. 1 minute in "I don't feel anything so far.........oh. I......fire in muh veins".

Next thing I know I am telling the nurses, family, friends, or even a doctor if they still around how much I appreciate and love them. Now I am rambling about good steak and how I can't wait for grilling season to start.

If you are playing the PC version then the lack of battles is actually a glitch. Somehow the encounter rate is tied to the refresh rate, so if you manually lock your fps to 60 it will fix the battles for you. (Temporary fix until the patch comes out).
