Howdy.

These last couple of days I've been playing Mad Max. I've never played it before and I'm having a blast. Every car is equipped with explody barrels and that means blowing shit up is mandatory. I love blasting fire out of my car's ass if someone dares to follow me.

I've found that drinking and playing this game go together extremely well.
Getting drunk while thunderpooning the fuck out of cars will never not be awesome.

It's so much fun.

Horribly underrated game, I had a ton of fun with it. Has the big open world post-apocalypse like Rage, with the combat of the Arkham Knight games. The car combat is really fun too, especially when you get a ton of upgrades. Makes me want to go back to it.

Very first Skate just hit Game Pass, even though playing Skate after playing the 2nd and 3rd is like kissing your sister. You can't even hop off the board, it's a lot of awkward angles and jumps to get up stairs on your board.

That's crazy, lol. I was trying to remember what one it was but I definitely remembered the draw bridge, that was the appeal of the set when I wanted it as a kid. I had a bunch of the medium sets, and one that was like a glow in the dark ghost in some wardrobe or something, it was a tiny one for like $6.

I remember having a hell of a time with the sails on the pirate ships too, trying to get them all tied up right and I could barely tie my shoes.

I'm sitting on several thousand dollars worth of lego backlog. Extra-super pathetic.
Some of these sets are worth ten times what I paid for them, because laziness.

I had a bunch of sets from the Pirates, Medieval, and I think it was Robin Hood, at least it was like tree houses and Robin Hood looking guys with bows and arrows. I don't even want to look to see what they are worth now because I had like 6-7 sets of each, I was obsessed. It became two huge totes of loose blocks and then parents donated it to Salvation Army when I joined the service. My biggest set was a pretty huge castle, pretty confident it was this one.

I've had my eye on that NES console and TV Lego set for a while, not much of a Lego guy but I was when I was young, and my nephew got me the Mos Eisley Cantina set for my birthday this year. It's still in the box, I might keep it that way idk yet. He asked to build it with him so we may crack it open one day.

My sleep schedule is officially fucked again. Woke up at 5am yesterday and when I got home I took a nap and here I am. Well I woke up earlier but drank with my neighbor. Now i'm watching this Top Secret UFO Projects: Declassified series on Netflix.

I always had an interest in this because I love astronomy and my dad used to work for the department of defense and he flat out won't admit area 51 exists or not to this day even though he's had to go to that area. I get on his ass about it and he gets pissed when I bring it up more than anything else. He said he's been to a few other bases in a couple other states where they hold you at gun point as you walk through certain areas. That was usually because they were working with nuclear warheads.

He even told me he was told to get to a very certain gate in Vegas and not to attempt to get on the other plane. He always talks like he doesn't believe in UFOs but I can tell he's seen some shit but they must have some serious threat on him that if he told me I would be killed or something.

Man that's awesome, always been into that stuff. Most intriguing was the Phoenix Lights incident, Netflix used to have a documentary about it. Hundreds of witnesses saying a craft the size of a football field with orange globes seemingly powering it was over the city. Many witnesses were telling the same story calling it into the police and 911.

I've been off and on smoking weed since the month my term ended, so I feel you on that one for sure. It helped a lot getting through the initial detox part. I didn't really get on my feet until my early 30s, I had been working a lot of retail management jobs, but I had an associates degree doing online courses from the GI bill and did nothing with it. I'm finally working in the field I want to and things fell into place. Just don't ever write yourself off or think you can't do something. There are a lot of trade classes and programs out there, you pay out a few hundred dollars, get a certification, and can get a starting job with respectable pay and room to grow. Take what you can get but never settle, and aim to do better for yourself constantly.

I was in the Army for 4 years, this was nearly 20 years ago, and I try to stay fit now even though i'm going on 40. I've been investing a lot more lately in general, even before all this, but it just adds to the long-term plan. Fortunately i've held down a good job for years, and have my finances all sorted out, own my home, but really have nothing for retirement but hoping to change that.

Also, trying to lose weight especially, look into the benefits of taking a cold shower, seriously. After a work out, it's going to be hell the first few times, but it actually is beneficial toward weight loss and helps reduce muscle soreness.

Nice! It'll take some time for your nervous system to adjust to being sober. If you have a car i recommend going to every state park & botanical garden close to you and walking. I helped a friend of mine cut back on his drinking and now he has saved up 30k it is crazy how much money he was spending drinking, but not just that, the time he spent drinking was also being wasted. So now by cutting his drinking significantly he has an extra 20-30 hours to put into a side gig.

Thanks man, I live in the TN mountains and I fish at least 3 times a week, generally hike 1 to 3 miles to a good spot on the water, and i've been doing a whole lot more of it since i've cleaned up. It's just been tough, but i'm pushing through. I noticed after bills were paid and everything at the end of July and I wasn't spending $200+ a week on booze that I had a good bit of extra and got some new boots and gear with it. I appreciate the support, I was surprised when I first started going through all of this how many people on CE can be supportive and drop you a PM to let you know they are there if you need it.

I appreciate the positivity. Coming from someone who has been sober a month, after years of being drunk daily, sometimes a 5th a day and a 6 pack of beer, i'm still trying to find any kind of enjoyment in sobriety and it kind of sucks. Maybe further down the road things will get better.

I dropped soda like 5 years ago, get a taste for flavored seltzer water. If you aren't used to it, at first you probably will hate it, and think it's bitter, but eventually when you aren't intaking all that sugar, it gets a lot better and becomes a viable replacement for soda imo.
