I'm not talking about little white lies like "you look good in that dress!", but "I want to keep living in Ohio" or "this was a good career choice" or "I'm happy" or "I still love you". Major life decisions that are done for the sake of the relationship rather than yourself.

If you are not comfortable with yourself first, you won't be comfortable anywhere.

"I'm happy" and "I still love you"... are temporary emotions. There's a certain point, beyond the scope of a fling, where a long term relationship enters into a tough situation. What you do then is act out of your commitment to loving the other person, rather than rolling along the exciting feeling of someone else enjoying your company. You do dishes, you take out trash, you mend clothing, you dust, you go to wakes and funerals and give elderly parents a lift. You dry tears, you read eulogies, you deal with papers. You do the hard work of loving that isn't fun, it isn't exciting, but it's just as important as all the good times you've had.

I suggest you try a long term relationship if, and only if, you can picture yourself making decisions that don't solely benefit yourself. If you can't, then fling away.

Seconding the MyFitnessPal app. I've lost 10 lbs since January using it. Plus your food/overall body awareness changes and it's weird and cool at the same time. You start to recognize why you eat instead of just reaching for whatever and shoveling it in.

When you're with a "life partner", how often do you have to fake things just so you can maintain this relationship that you desperately don't want to lose? Pretty much constantly.

Somebody's got communication issues. Having a life partner teaches you perspective. Everything is not part of a wild emotional roller coaster, you can identify some stuff that's getting you down or frustrating you and share that with your partner. Then, provided you are self-aware enough to not start destructively projecting all over the place, they will understand that something is upsetting you and it's not them. If it is them, you can communicate honestly and reach a middle ground that's fine for everyone involved. There's no faking. If there is faking, it becomes extremely clear over time and that's just painful. I don't understand why someone would be in a relationship in the first place, if they feel they can't be open and honest.

the best thing about having a long term committed partner is that you always have a person you can invite to stuff whenever you want to go and do something.

Alternatively, you can have a great buffer whenever people invite you to stuff. You can delay your response slightly by saying you have to ask your spouse, plus if you are both super tired you can just stay home together. I always felt on the spot to respond when I was single, but now that I'm with Tom it's amazing how much less social pressure I feel.

Generations
Weird and funny. I enjoyed seeing Kirk again, and interacting with Picard was a gift. Slightly bogus ending, but the Nexus scenes were nifty.

First Contact
I liked seeing Zefram Cochrane getting annoyed at the hero worship, and meeting the Vulcans at the end was terrific. The Borg were terrifying as usual, and that Queen was extra creepy.

Insurrection
Honestly, my fave of the TNG films. F. Murray Abraham is a terrific villain, and it had a great story. I got to see one of my ships get married whilst the other one was trampled on once again! I scowl at Jean-Luc and Beverly forever.

Nemesis
Wow, huh, this was really cool looking on the surface but managed to be so dumb. B-4 was a humorous addition, I think Brent Spiner did quite a job making him more robotic and limited. The rest of it was just car chases and ...evil clone??? Not great. Good performances by all despite the box of rocks subject material.

All Good Things best Star Trek episode IMO.

It is one of the better ones of TNG, honestly. Very fun, very watchable. Character development, plot, interesting makeup experimentation, a variety of emotional states presented. And Q. Always Q.

S7E13 - "Homeward"
I always love clashes of values/personality with Worf. Best. Yes good. I also enjoy when people flout the rules and regulations, probably the TOS fan in me.

S7E14 - "Sub Rosa"
Break my heart, please. This was a tough episode to get through. Can I just say that this episode would be a non-issue if Crusher and Picard would get it together already?

S7E15 - "Lower Decks"
This right here is the heart and soul of TNG, your joe-average Starfleet folks going through their jobs and trying their best to make good connections and get promotions/recognition for their hard work.

S7E16 - "Thine Own Self"
Yay, it's a Data episode. This was precious, I could easily see it as a short story had it not been part of a larger narrative. It's amazing how people fear what they do not understand.

S7E17 - "Masks"
A great exercise for Brent Spiner but overall a STRANGE episode. It was exciting at times, and the sets/makeup were very beautiful - but I was mostly wanting it to be over. And it was soon enough, minus any serious climax.

S7E18 - "Eye of the Beholder"
This was a really wild episode, and I enjoyed being along for the ride. Troi is of course the key to this mystery, but things get psychologically funky in there. It's a good time. More Worf/Troi which is not my fave. An interesting treatment of the issue of suicide.

S7E19 - "Genesis"
STUPID. NO ONE NEEDED THIS EPISODE. UGH. Also an extra 'screw you' to whoever thought the jumpscare was a good idea.

S7E20 - "Journey's End"
Viva Wesley Crusher, may your Gary Stu-ness never end.

S7E21 - "Firstborn"
This episode bended my brain around, in a good way. Yay Klingon culture and time travel.

S7E22 - "Bloodlines"
Nice to see Picard in a fatherly role, and demonstrating the unconditional ideal that parents are supposed to express. Primary takeaway: get Picard to adopt you if you are feeling crappy about yourself.

S7E23 - "Emergence"
Another holodeck error episode. Shoot me now, Sheriff.

S7E24 - "Preemptive Strike"
ENSIGN RO! ENSIGN RO! WHAT WE NEEDED ON THIS SHOW!
Okay, I'm done chanting. This would have meant more had she been a more regular character, but it meant a lot to me. Those baby bangs they gave her are a tad unforgivable, but this storyline makes so much sense. Quality Trek.

S7E25 & S7E26 - "All Good Things..."
...must come to an end in the 5th season, before all this weirdness starts going downhill.
Did I say that out loud? Anyway, Picard is a Time Lord and Q is just teaching him one last lesson. Plus, it's very satisfying to see almost everyone in the future. I love seeing the passage of time in a series, be it flashback or timeskip.

Overall a great series, with terrific characters. I've watched Generations and First Contact at this point, but I'd much rather do a writeup of all TNG movies at once.
