With Ace Attorney I actually saw that in a magazine and thought it looked great. Outer Wilds I got into through gaming podcasts yeah. Persona as a series could count but series feel like a bit of a cheat, as I started with 3 and thats a good game but no 4 or 5.

At first it looked kinda fun, then the last third of that trailer was just a generic superhero CG-fest. Will likely be meh.

Without a doubt the manga is the way to go for One Piece. The anime is not a good way to experience the story. The arts not GREAT but its mostly fine in the manga, I think the black and white helps.

I missed the opportunity to say this, but the sheer audacity to call your game, Unicorn Overlord, the rebirth of the tactical RPG at a time when the genre is probably at the strongest its ever been is incredible.

This direct was just fine imo. To be expected given that not only is the Switch late in its lifecycle, they will probably have one more Switch-focused direct before they reveal the next console.

Governments across the world are getting hammered because of global economic conditions, regardless of their political leaning. A Biden loss would just fit that narrative. With that said, the advantage Biden does have is that he will be running against Trump. Look at Spain - Sanchez was able to hang on because he rightly mobilised concern that the centre-right main opposition was going to bring the far-right (who actually lost support) into government. Overall I think a moderate Republican would probably paste Biden but moderate Republicans arent on the menu. Fear of Trump will hopefully get voters out as well it should!

Though to be clear, the other guys a fascist is not the campaign you ever want to have to run. Not a good situation.

Yeah, that was really great. I had a good feeling about this one because they did pre-screenings at events like they did for the penultimate Mando season 3 episode (easily the best of that season) and I doubt they would do that for a trash episode haha.

Loved the Anakin/Vader transitions, and the de-agong with them not doing it when he was dark-sided worked really well. Hayden Christensens best performance in the role for sure. I also really liked the second part of the episode with the Purgills, I thought the visuals were breathtaking and the music was excellent.

Tonally I think this strikes the perfect balance of being a bit more serious and harder-edged than the other shows and movies from ROTJ on while not going to the full Andor/Rogue One level. It is probably the closest Star Wars has come tonally to the first two movies in a long time.

On the New Republic, I think its necessary to show its problems in order to highlight how something like the First Order can come about. Its also regrettably pretty realistic both in terms of our own history (that Star Wars has borrowed liberally from since day one) and in terms of how it probably would go given the fictional universe history with both the state of the Republic pre-Empire and how entrenched the Imperials made themselves. I think there were probably many in the Republic who just wanted to get back to the old ways without fixing what was wrong as well as people who didnt think that what we would call denazification was worth the investment. Like I said unfortunately quite realistic!

Yeah though after FF7 Aerith got badly Flanderized into being the stereotypical sweet good girl healer type in follow-up media, and Tifa got hit in the opposite direction. So Remake just brought it back to how it was in the original game really.

Precedent is a real thing and the only way to prevent misuse of that precedent is to not allow it at all. The reality is in the vast majority of cases the 100% certainty isnt actually a true certainty at all. On cost, the cost per head of the death penalty is literally double the cost per head of life imprisonment, a lot of people dont realise that. There is no pragmatic case for the death penalty just looking at it in numbers terms.

Was a bit concerned about what the poll results would be since questions like this are obviously designed to make people who normally oppose the death penalty answer differently, but good job Board 8. Happy to see these results (as of this writing anyway).

The state should under absolutely no circumstances ever have the power to kill its citizens. There has never in human history been a case where the state having this ability hasnt led to its abuse. But also it isnt an effective deterrent, its extremely expensive, it doesnt even work as a punishment in most cases (and for those saying well they can live happy lives in prison I would advise you to look up current prison conditions across the anglosphere which is a whole other issue), and there are a lot of cases perhaps even the vast majority where certainty is not actually so certain. The death penalty does nothing other than revenge, and having the death penalty always means that innocent people will be executed. It should never exist at all.

Fantastic episode. I think there was more development than like half of Mando season 3. Ray Stenson is the best.

As for The Flash, Ive not seen it but it reviewed ok (63-64% RT). Most people I have spoken to seem to think its alright but forgettable with some very bad effects. I dont think those first reactions were payola but clearly cherrypicked. The influencer reactions were much more mixed. Test scores were reportedly good but not as amazing as hyped. I do wonder though as it did score better than Batgirl, what that would have been like.

Well even the MCU is making a lot less than it used to, but that one is a little more explainable.

Cuz China, mainly. Hollywood movies by and large are not doing nearly as well in China as they used to for a variety of factors, and half the recent MCU movies didnt even get a Chinese release. Thor L&T and GotG3 both outgrossed their predecessors excluding China, with Quantumania topping the first Ant-Man when China is set aside. Actually when you discount China No Way Home made about $200 million more than Infinity War did! Similarly some other markets are no longer getting releases of MCU films such as Russia.

I aint watching that.

But its a false premise anyway. Two of the highest grossing films of the year are superhero movies. When you account for China MCU movies are doing pretty damn well. I think when people talk about superhero movies struggling this year what they actually mean is DC movies. And we all know what happened there!

Yeah, I had this issue as well, especially with close-ups. The show looks mostly great but Netflix need to relax their shooting standards, the Netflix look was really obvious here.

Also digging in deeper to the numbers, the show virtually tied Queen Charlottes debut which then went into the top 10 all time for the first 28 days. So One Piece should end up with really impressive numbers if the word of mouth is as good as it seems.

18.5 million views in four days. Thats great! Not Stranger Things or Wednesday numbers but higher than The Witcher season 3 (and about equal to season 2), and twice what The Sandman did last year. Looking away from Netflix thats also better than Ahsokas debut. I believe this is the number 3 debut this year, narrowly behind Queen Charlotte at 2 and a little below The Night Agent at 1. The Sandman got renewed on a similar budget to One Piece so season 2 should now be nearly guaranteed. If you are wondering, this is about nine times Cowboy Bebops views.

However, it needs to show legs over the next four weeks, so lets hope it sees the expected bump in week two. I may watch it again to keep it up there haha.

the ps1 doesn't blow the n64 out of the water in terms of technical capabilities
like i thought it was maybe pretty close ish or like the n64 kind of does some things a little better or whatever
uh, no. no absolutely not. ps1 games are 700mb and n64 games are at most 64mb and i think most of them are 8-16. and looking back with the benefit of hindsight it is so obvious. god i was so dumb.
