Going to guess Beetlejuice. From the sounds of it Inviso ranked Possession low, and at this stage I think both it and Beetlejuice will have similar high placements at the top, which would favour Possession in a tiebreaker as I cant imagine Beetlejuice getting much hate. Then again after some of the Gremlins rankings maybe I will be surprised! Speaking of which I moved Possession down one at the last minute and in retrospect am not sure about that so if it loses the tiebreaker its my fault.

On Videodrome, wow that was divisive, half of rankers have it in the top 3 then a big gap. It was an interesting watch but not my favourite. The Fly is Cronenberg doing the melding of humanity and technology better in my view.

I have to think about this one. Hunters was very impressive but is early on. That Wizard of Oz game looks crazy, basically like a 3DS game. My instinct is to say Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days for similar reasons to Chain of Memories. It had multiple FMV cutscenes, this time with full VO, and the 3D graphics and sound were very impressive for the system. If I remember correctly they had an extra large cart just for that game. However, I never played or even saw much of Re:Coded, is that more impressive than Days is?

The Indian server will start choosing its admin today. Unfortunately they will probably stick with the current one even though he is a nightmare and most servers are getting new admins. We will find out in early June.

Snake it feels like a podcast tailor made for you. Theyve covered nearly every film on the list, its actually how I became aware of Possession in the first place!

Surprised to see Evil Dead II out so low, and that I was the top rater for it. The only thing Ill say is, its not really a remake at all, they get to the last shot of the first film in like five minutes haha. It is kind of like a quasi-recap made out of all new material. I think the reason it is that way was rights issues.

Also, now we are in a new topic I really have to recommend to everybody the podcast The Evolution of Horror. Its a genuinely fantastic podcast where the host goes through different subgenres of horror (Slashers, Ghosts, etc.) one film at a time, and has some very qualified guests from film journalists to filmmakers to talk about the film. It is easily one of the best podcasts Ive listened to.

To answer the question in the first post, the PS2 was definitely more dominant than the PS1 in that I wouldnt say the PS1 had weaker competition as much as less competition. The N64 was more popular than both the Gamecube and the Xbox and had the highest selling game of the generation. PS2 is right up there, the only console that might top it in terms of dominance is the NES.

You are all forgetting a little game called Skyrim as far as major RPGs are concerned! Also The Witcher 3.

On the poll, just your reminder that MGS3 ran terribly compared to every other game on the poll. I love it but the PS2 version did have technical issues.

This was a good movie! I like fun and more serious films!

And yeah going with Videodrome next.

I mean I didnt like Tetsuo and only put it one space above Basket Case, but there is a difference in the level of craft there. And among the general populace and critics Tetsuo is the better regarded film.

When I look at the films remaining, its a good mix. There are going to be plenty of fun films in the top ten. Like three max will be art films, unless we count The Shining which was auteur-led but also very commercial. All are well received, at least as well as movies like Gremlins. Im not really seeing the art film bias and I ranked them across the scale from near the top to near the bottom. Two are in my top ten, one in the middle, two in my bottom ten. Thats the same range as every other film. I mean its not like Gremlins did badly too, 13 is a pretty good ranking on a strong list. I was the second highest ranker of Gremlins!

I also forgot that one of the remaining artsy films hadnt dropped yet - there is one left that I dont think is great but its alright.

Wow it seems like they announce a new SteamWorld game every time they do one of these.

Anyway, decent looking lineup, I will absolutely play Lorelei and the Laser Eyes at least. Simogo should be a bigger deal than they are.

The Stitch couples background is so visually pleasing.

A co-op TMNT Roguelite influences heavily by Hades is not something I expected to see here but it looks great?

New Simogo game hell yes. Lorelei and the Laser Eyes lol. Year Walk is still one of the best mobile games Ive ever played, and Sayonara Wild Hearts was great too.

What the devil is this Refind game

MGS3 has great graphics and complex systems. However, it does not run well at all on a PS2. It regularly runs at 20fps and dips into the teens. Fantastic game but clearly making heavy compromises.

There are no bad art movies left, only great art movies.

Shame about Gremlins but we are getting into the top films now. Im going to guess Re-Animator.

Or like say when a certain former President of the United States blamed a tragedy on video games and met with a bunch of executives? That was pretty political.

IMO I dont think Gran Turismo 2 NEEDED to make the poll, though MGS getting on there over it and actually tying for lead was very eyebrow raising. Gran Turismo 4, however, absolutely should be on the poll.

Looks very good for the system, really dense foliage and runs at 60fps.

On Christine I think the silly-sounding premise of the book works because King goes so deep into the characters. At its heart it is a classic ghost story while the film is kinda just about an evil car. Its fun, I like fun movies, I had Creepshow higher than it, but it loses a bit of its texture and depth and some of the elements become incongruous. Some cool shots though.

As for The Dead Zone, I liked this one a lot and it would have been nice to see it higher but its a good placement. Even though its not REALLY a horror, I still think it belongs on the list for being a confluence of two of the biggest minds in horror at the time. Also some of those sequences are pretty chilling and the premise is scary.

I mean its 4 over Remake surely as Remake was using pre-rendered backgrounds pretty extensively, which is part of how it could get so much out of the Gamecube to begin with. It was a cool trick, but 4 is pushing the hardware more.

But would a better strategy not just be limiting all politics discussion to the social boards (except where it directly relates to the game or whatever), mandating that the topics always be tagged, and reducing the threshold of moderation while increasing the penalties for things like anti-LGBT sentiment and other bigotry? Seems like that would actually solve the problem rather than just making everybody mad while also making a quarantined extremism factory.

Fine Gael are Tories, but Irish, so no. Fianna Fail are a joke. Sinn Fein are currently tearing themselves in half over whether they should favour the urban left-leaning part of their base or the racist headbanger part of their base. The Greens kind of betrayed a lot of their supporters to be in the current government. So itll be Social Democrat as first preference for me, or maybe a far-left candidate if they arent too bad about stuff like Ukraine and other foreign policy issues.

My early thought is Resident Evil 4 but Im open to being convinced otherwise. Twilight Princess is also in the mix.
