Layton comes in for the final...maybe 20% of the case? And the Storyteller is maybe there for the final 10% of it. As Bitto said, this is a really long case. In fact, counting the "investigation" segment after the trial segment of L-3 ends, it takes up almost half the game.

I doubt anyone's trading up for Harrison and the top 3 will almost certainly draft QBs if they stay where they are, so you should be good on that count

PS1 vs. N64 wasn't close. The PS1 sold around 100 million and the N64 sold around 30-35 million.

I did appreciate the progress you saw in the animations starting with this case. Showing Maya holding the pipe was something cool you didn't see in previous games.

Hot take time: Most of PW1's soundtrack isn't very good (it's got a few very memorable tracks, don't get me wrong), so hearing remixes of them doesn't do much for me.

I doubt anyone voting for the Wii is doing it out of favoritism though.

Yes, the N64 is a very top heavy console, but you have to ignore a lot of its negatives to include it on a Rushmore. If you want to include a Nintendo console for its library, just pick the SNES.

Okay, I am basically done with Rebirth Chapter 10, aside from cleaning up World Intel stuff.

As I mentioned before, this depiction of Cosmo Canyon was practically perfect. It looked super good and had the right atmosphere, in addition to the banger remix of the town theme.

I liked how they portrayed Bugenhagen here. He's still mostly the wise old sage, but the mask drops a couple of times, and you can see his frustration and hopelessness at the Planet's situation. I thought it was interesting that he basically said it was impossible that we saw Weapons, but he never really elaborates on why he thinks that.

The Cave of the Gi was pretty good. It would've been nice if you could've chosen Red XIII's partner instead of it having to be Barret, but he was a pretty good choice if it had to just be one party member. I loved him putting on his sunglasses to cover up his tears when he sees Red XIII's interaction with Seto.

Then we got two big detours back to back. As Gi Nattak is ferrying us over to the Gi Village, we get another Zack scene, and it's the wildest one yet. Zack and Biggs both say that right before their deaths, they saw a wind and next thing they knew, they were somewhere completely different and alive. On top of that, their memories don't match because (I assume) they were saved at different points in time. Biggs has memories of Mercenary Cloud, but Zack is still taking care of comatose Cloud, who hasn't awoken to that persona yet. Zack believes Aerith was the one who saved them, but I agree with Biggs when he asks, "Why me?" It's an interesting choice to save him out of all the members of Avalanche.

Back to the Gi Village, they explain that they're cursed to be wandering spirits who can never return to the Lifestream because they weren't created by it. So where did they come from then? Are they offshoots of Jenova or something? Regardless, they wanted to find a way to end their existence, and that's how the Black Materia came into existence. However, Gi Nattak claimed the Cetra stole it from them before they could use it, and he asks us to get it back for him. Well, I guess if Meteor destroyed the Planet, that would do the trick and get rid of the Gi, too.

Cait Sith thinks he might know where the Black Materia is when Gi Nattak said it was located at a place of Cetra worship. I guess Shinra already found it, so if he can find access to a Shinra terminal, he could verify it for sure. Unfortunately, Bugenhagen repurposed Cosmo Canyon's into a windmill! When a black robed guy shows up at the front gate muttering about Nibelheim, Cait Sith is sure there's a terminal there. Nobody knows how to bring up that Nibelheim shouldn't exist anymore, but we're headed there anyway!

It does feel longer than that, but it moves at a pretty fast pace. They cram in a lot of stuff into a small window of time.

Tifa's debated 2018 run would be a complete stomp these days. MMX, Luigi, and Sephiroth would all get crushed by the might of the Italian Senate.

I think Luigi would still have a chance, although he probably loses. Between Luigi's Mansion 3, Mario Wonder, and the Mario movie, he's probably held up pretty well over the last 6 years.

All other issues aside, I think the way Remake and Rebirth have handled Sephiroth is extremely disappointing. I haven't seen a single new player have any investment in him as a villain whatsoever.

They're using him way too much. FFVII took a "less is more" approach with Sephiroth. He's not actually in the original game that much, but they made almost every scene with him count. There's very little fluff any time he appears. As such, he's super memorable, and it feels like he's in the game a ton because you remember every time he shows up.

Heck, even some of the times you don't actually see him leave a big impression, like him killing the Midgar Zolom.

It's a very tiny story (chase Sephiroth, then way later, get black materia) in a huge open game. Remake had a much more detailed story which is why it was able to spend so much time on its story.

I mean big story in terms of scale. The scope, maybe not so much. You cover a lot of ground, even if the overarching story doesn't necessarily progress that much.

Remake took 5 hours of content and stretched them into 40, all while basically staying in the same place the entire time. Remake had a lot of time to fill, and it did a good job of it.

If Chief always has high prediction percentages (and he does), no, they didn't. They got lucky. If Link always had low prediction percentages, it wouldn't mean they "read the room" the three times he didn't win.

I'll give an analogy since I don't think you're getting it. Say someone is specialized in a certain betting contest, like horses or football. They crunch numbers, they make bets, they usually get things right but a few things wrong. If a race or game happens that goes wildly out of scope, they adjust accordingly. For reference this isn't a pure hypothetical, people like this exist. Now make a board full of them. What they get right or wrong is not what an upset is in that respective sport, what determines the upset is the people in the overall pool. That includes the casuals. B8 is good at predicting the right 3:1 odds winners. That doesn't mean we're right and sometimes what we think is 3 to 1 is actually the opposite.

Oh, you mean sharps? Yeah, those people absolutely impact betting lines and determine if something turns out to be an upset or not.

The public loves to bet underdogs. That doesn't mean it's not an upset when one wins.
