Yeah, Mario RPGs are funny. That's not to say there aren't RPGs with humor in them. There just aren't very many that I would describe to someone as "This is a funny game." The Mario RPGs would probably be some of the only ones I would describe as such.

There was a perfect blend of humor and emotion, as well. I'm actually puzzled as to why FFX didn't really have any of that - FFVII and Chrono Trigger are way funnier games.
What are you talking about? FFX is funny! Well, Tidus is anyway. I dunno. There aren't very many RPGs I would classify as "funny" to begin with though. Usually by the time you get to the endgame, your party is ready to fight Lavos, as long as you haven't been running from fights and all that.

Oh right, he can get another ending by doing the Black Omen sidequest or whatever, right? Or am I thinking about something else?
But I was thinking nearly every ending depended on when you fought Lavos, so once you got Crono back in your party and essentially started endgame stuff, you were locked into that default ending. He could've gotten some other endings before, like if he had fought Lavos before getting Crono back, but I didn't think he could really get anything else. -- "I couldn't stand a day without a past or future. I don't think you can get anything other than the traditional ending the first time now that you have Crono back, so it doesn't really matter what you do now.

You would have to deliberately choose not to have Magus join your party in order to miss him. The game will basically give you a choice that essentially boils down to, "Do you want Magus in your party or not?"
