As is my understanding, there's nothing in these bills about creating some sort of program to get people photographic voter IDs.

Voter fraud is a big deal....

Where? There's never been any evidence presented that this is actually a problem.

For those of you not in the know, several Republican governors/state legislatures are attempting to institute laws that require photo IDs to vote in elections, thus disenfranchising many members of the urban poor, students, and the elderly. Coincidentally, most of the groups affected over this tend to vote Democratic. Hmmmm.....

http://www.cleveland.com/open/index.ssf/2011/03/ohio_house_approves_legislatio.html
http://host.madison.com/wsj/news/local/govt-and-politics/elections/article_5aa8adfa-7845-11e0-82be-001cc4c03286.html

And all this over a problem that no one has evidence actually exists.

Not too late. Just ask Eugene McCarthy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democratic_Party_%28United_States%29_presidential_primaries,_1968
The New Hampshire/Wisconsin Democratic primaries were probably the biggest electoral achievements in recent American history, tbqh.

Be careful what you wish for though. Never know when you might have a slimeball like RFK who sits back and lets someone else do all the hard work, before trying to swoop in and take the benefits for themselves.

Third parties are never going to do well if they try to jump ahead and enter the presidential race. Start local and move up. Look at Vermont. They have a relevant third party in their state's politics, and it has elected representatives to national office (OK, just the one, but it's not like Vermont has a ton of Congressional seats at play here.)

The problem is not that women are unfairly presumed to be innocent. The problem is that men are unfairly presumed to be guilty. Scott Peterson was convicted of murder with basically no evidence.

I wouldn't say this is a failure. It's not like there was DNA evidence like in the OJ trial, at least I don't think there was. I think she was probably guilty too, but in a case like this it just comes down to whether the jury can believe the prosecution wholeheartedly. As long as there's some sort of reasonable doubt as to whether or not she killed her daughter, you can't convict.

Carbonated Water

Flavored Cola (Cherry Coke/Dr. Pepper)
Fruit Flavor (Grape/Orange Soft Drinks)
Ginger Ale
Lemon-Lime/Citrus Flavors (Sprite/Mountain Dew)
Root Bear

What is your favorite type of carbonated beverage?

Citrus Flavor (Mountain Dew/Mello Yello)
Cola (Coke/Pepsi)
Cream Soda
Diet Cola
Flavored Cola (Cherry Coke)
Fruit Flavor (Grape/Orange Soda)
Ginger Ale
Lemon-Lime Flavor (Sprite/7 Up/Sierra Mist)
Root Beer

Any ones I'm missing or worded improperly? Dr. Pepper's my favorite, but I had no clue what category it would be. Flavored Cola?

Brendan and Rachel more entertaining than the brigade?

Yes. You don't have to be likeable to be entertaining. What did the brigade do that was so entertaining? There's a reason why this past season is considered one of the worst in Big Brother history.

Brendan and Rachel more entertaining than Evel Dick/chilltown?

I wouldn't say they are more entertaining than those two. Just better people I guess.

I'm not saying I like Brendon and Rachel per se, but at least they are entertaining unlike personality vacuums Hayden/Enzo or just horrible human beings like Chilltown/Evil Dick.

It's kind of sad now that Michelle from BB11 won't be able to bring her crazy trainwreck of a self to the show this season. Hopefully next year is a full on all stars.

Movies and games are very different. The movie industry purposely puts money into artsy movies for the health of the industry. Gaming cuts out those types of things, usually. I would hesitate to compare the two in this way.

How much money do you think it would cost to bring a game over here and market it, how much would Nintendo want to make on it, and how much would they lose sending money back to Japan?

The game industry should put more money into artsy games. I don't disagree that they don't at this point though. But it's not just artsy movies that get released like this. There's plenty of crap that gets released on DVD all the time.

Nintendo wouldn't have to market the game too much. Not any more so a film company does when they re-release a classic film on DVD or something. They wouldn't have to lose any money, although how much they make would be up for question. I understand why Nintendo doesn't want to release the game, but considering they already have it translated, I'm not sure what they have to lose.

Or any company really, not just Nintendo.

There's manufacturing and shipping costs as well, but that's true for cheap bottom of the barrel DVDs and those still get released. Of course it'd probably cost slightly more to do this with a video game, but video games cost more as well.

People might not like British accents as much as American ones, but the British version of The Office was still released on DVD here and shown on cable, so I'm not sure what the point of that is? I think most well received British products have still been released in America in some format.

Secondly, I agree with the sentiment that I don't get the whole "This game has to sell 100,000 copies to justify its release." The making of the game and the localization has already been done. How much money would Nintendo be spending on release in the United States? Movies get released all the time that probably see less than 100,000 people see them in the theaters, and video games cost way more than movie tickets. If not I don't see why some smaller company couldn't just release it instead. It's not like you need advertising to release the game. I don't go around seeing advertisements for the DVD of Dogtooth everywhere, but that never stopped someone from releasing it.

Maury: If my children were dating anyone 2 years older than me I would be very upset.

They actually insinuated at one point that the father of a 27 year old should have to approve her relationship with a 58 year old. What is this, the 1800's? She's a grown woman. Sure the age gap is big, but the show was insinuating that there was something morally wrong about this kind of relationship.
