TopicOther than gaming, do you have hobbies, CE?

VanananaHeyHey posted...
I agree; I'm looking for hobbies because I drink and binge watch stuff too much. How do you bloc your time to fit all that in? I struggle to manage home, work, cooking and gym; even when I have spare time, I feel directionless in a way I didn't as a kid. I'll turn thirty-one next February.

The big thing for me is paying attention to where my time is going. I used to spend a lot of time posting on GameFAQs and wasting time on social media for personal pursuits, instead of business pursuits and things I actually felt passionate about. Everything online is designed to be very addictive and grab your attention, so it's important to be critical of where you happen to spend most of your free time. Dedicate yourself to a project or hobby you remember being passionate about if you can't think of anything. Even if it feels mundane at first you can set aside a timeslot for it each day and build from there to see if it's still your thing.

I think people will probably gawk at this because it's trendy right now but I am a minimalist when it comes to buying things. I keep what is essential and try to only buy things that are around my passions/hobbies/interests. I don't watch advertising or impulse buy. Hourly pay is an exchange of time for money, so if you can drill down and find a way to save money you can reduce hours worked. I'm comfortably part-time. This opens up a lot of time for other things you actually want to pursue. Those other things can also generate extra income with patience and dedication. Eventually a hobby might even bloom into career that actually interests you if you already feel unfulfilled with work.

I just came back here a few days ago for the first time in six months. It's silly to think about, but I've been posting here a lot as a habit that I kind of built up when I was younger. To be honest, it's just straight up addictive for me when I'm here. I don't even think it's so much intentional in design, but that it feels familiar for me. So I am leaving again for another six months and will be back in another six months after I log out tonight because I don't want to sink more of my life into it.

Anyways I hope that helped. If time management is really difficult for you, you can use a calendar app and slot in reminders and notifications to remind you that it's time to do something different during each period of time for long enough to change your habits. That's basically what I did at first, when I first realized how much time I was wasting each day.

If the wall is important to him he should step down and hand over the reigns to his VP. Pence still has enough political legitimacy to veto the decision without the threat of impeachment. I suspect Trump would be too egotistical to sacrifice himself though.

And to be clear I am not in favor of the diversion of funds for the wall.

From a marketing standpoint I would assume nuclear hands down, wind has to convert wind to electricity way out in the middle of the ocean, and it is not cheap to move that electricity from all the way out there to the consumer, also there is 0 storage.

Nuclear, you can build the plant a lot closer to the consumer, takes up waaaaay less of a footprint, and you can just turn the plant off to store the power.

All solid points.

Questionmarktarius posted...
A couple or three incidents, and the rest of the world freaks out at the mere suggestion of nuclear.

It's frustrating but entirely understandable considering the fallout basically results in entire cities being rendered abandoned. The municipalities and companies that failed to upgrade or decommission plants built on old unsafe technology are mainly to blame though. Those incidents are definitely not even remotely accurate when it comes to assessing the safety of modern nuclear power plants. I'm not sure how France managed to shift public opinion on it either.

Anyways anything is better than coal. Don't want to derail

That top comment is interesting. The last time Trump vetoed the measure. Maybe the republicans are making a deal to protect the president if he agrees to end the diversion of funding for a border wall? I'm not exactly sure why they would want that though considering their constituents generally support it unless I'm mistaken.

Anyways that's just conjecture.

It's a good development but they can go bigger. 1.2 GW is a drop in the bucket but at least it's a step in the right direction. The second portion of the project is set to go online in 2020 for an additional 1.8 GW unless I'm mistaken. Nuclear power plants can feasibly top 8 GW and take around 4 years to complete, so it's on parity with Hornsea 1 as planning began in 2016. It would be interesting to see an overall cost comparison between the two based on energy output/storage/building costs.

There's really nothing wrong with her reaction here. Colbert should not have tried to joke about her being selfish when she dedicates her entire life to entertaining people by talking about politics. It's obviously exhausting to her. That was pretty off-base. I think part of the reason I don't bother with his show is because it's just non-stop politics. If you really go back and watch what late night shows used to be they would dig into politicians occasionally but that was like 5% of the show.

The cynical side of me says this was probably just for publicity but I think the idea of her being genuinely exhausted by it is 100% plausible.

ANSWER: It has recently come up that President Donald Trump tried to get the Ukraine government to investigate the son of Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, who served on the board of directors for a Ukraine company. Asking a foreign country to help you win your re-election campaign by getting dirt on your opponent is considered a major ethical violation. Many people feel that this use of the President's authority for his personal political gain is an impeachable offense.

That schedule actually makes sense, the problem I have is that government in general is inefficient. If they were ran with a limited budget, imagine the efficiencies that could be had. I use the examples of non-profits. They have no real income, yet are able to squeeze and make more from every dollar that is supplied. If the governments ran the same way non-profits did, we would have so many more social services at lower overall costs.

Good take imo
