Fallout 2 was pretty dark. You could kill a man by strapping explosives to a child and detonating them.

It's already dark early. Remember the intro where the Enclave murders an entire Vault with miniguns?

That'd be nice if it A) Was a significant problem for Fallout games (it wasn't) B) Wasn't the probable cause for the dialogue being so dumbed down that you're forced into having "four options."

You'll get no argument from me that the dialogue is dumbed down but that didn't start with 4, that started with 3.

3, New Vegas and 4 all have dumbed down dialogue.

And 4 had better and funnier dialogue than 3 and especially New Vegas. Curie and Nick alone bring more laughs than anything in the Mojave.

I don't really get why "You have 4 generic replies or you can ask questions!" is worse than "You have 1 or 2 generic replies or you can ask questions!"

I don't see how "Well the ability to easily enter and leave conservations in Fallout 4 is what made dialogue dumb in Fallout 3 years before." makes any sense.

Unless you mean Fallout 4 has no "Low Intelligence" alternate dialogue, which I agree sucks and I blame the fact it was voice acted for that.

I'm with you all the way that I miss the options of 1 and 2. I miss that not thinking your dialogue through had consequences.

Could have been darker. This was the original image for the childkiller perk in Fallout 2



But Fallout has always been a dark and cynical game. Even the opening video for Fallout 1 is dark.
