The alternative is just a file browser that opens a separate app i'd have to download (or use the crappy factory app), but was hoping to consolodate apps.

I'd just want one app to play everything from a network hard drive.

Tried VLC and a few others but each one was missing one of those 4 things. Usually the ones that can access a network drive can't view epubs, and ones that can can't access a network drive ;_;

Hard to compare.

I recommend Dominion if you are into pure strategy/high-level play, have a LOT of money (expansions), and/or you meet a lot of non-gamers.

I recommend Star Realms if you travel a lot, want something cheap, and intend to just play 2 players a lot.

I recommend Clank if you want a dungeon crawler that's also a deckbuilder.

I recommend Ascension if you find Dominion plays too slow or you like thinking on your feet more with the changing cards to buy.

I recommend Marvel Legendary if you want more cooperation, and if your friends refused to play any board games, but they are huge marvel movie fans.

I recommend Mage Knight if you have VERY patient friends, or you would rather spend money on a solo board game than a video game :)

This is the most fun game I've played. Had a weekend of hanging out with 5 other friends and we played the game for over 16 hours in 2 days lol

Clank!, Star Realms, and Marvel Legendary have been taking over Dominion (mostly with Rio Grande's poor marketing). Still great, still a classic, and still unarguably created a genre :)

^ Okay let me rant about Heroquest.

First of all, Heroquest was my only friend in middle school. I went to the library to xerox the blank quest sheet to make my own content. I programmed it in Visual Basic. I have nearly every quest memorized (include the stupid Fools Gold one in which the only good move is to immediately return to the staircase and not play it).

The game hasn't aged well. Totally broken, slow, sluggish, easy, not fun if going by the rules.

If you play it like D&D though with open rules, then its great!

With that said, forget HeroQuest, the old edition is only for novelty and cool toys. Get Descent or Imperial Assault or Super Dungeon Explore or Arcadia Quest instead.

/end rant

No, i'm not done. In Heroquest you have to roll 2 dice for movement. That means a Dwarf can run a mile past an Elf. Then the Dwarf player will probably skip their next 3 turns and no open a door with monsters until the Elf spends several turns catching up.

Oh and there's no urgency. The dominant strategy is have every hero keep rolling for movement until they are at the door. Then the first player opens the door, and the other 3 kill every monster before they can even attack.

Much of the loot is useless. Oh a staff that can attack diagonally... too bad its only 1 die to attack... for 100 gold???? The best armor in the game means you only roll a D6 to move, meaning the game slows down even MORE while you roll and roll and roll until you meet up with your party.

3 heroes can equip the crossbow and roll almost maximum damage on anything within line of sight. Meaning you don't even need to enter a room. Just open the door, everyone fires their crossbows until everything dies. Rinse and repeat forever.

I enjoy quite a few:

Galaxy Trucker: you get a crapload of content and options and a full fledged campaign with no microtransactions. But its more difficult than FTL.

Patchwork: I love me perfect information strategy games

Baldur's Gate Enhanced: unfortunately I need a better tablet for this

Brio Railways: Its Rollercoaster Tycoon but for my 4 year old, but is oddly addicting as its just a big sandbox of train networks.

Crimea was the clear favorite among everyone. Nords were the least popular.

Nearly all players build up to 5 workers, then stop until the mid-end game.

Many winners didn't go for a Factory card.

Many players chose Speed as their first mech.

Super Mario RPG Just finished this a month ago after beating it many times when i first got it.

Okay, I don't think this was Nintendo, so i'm putting the blame on you,Squaresoft, because you pull this kind of ****.

A SKIPPABLE TREASURE CHEST! You only discover it when you get the item that tells you there was a chest in the room. And the only way to get it is the 2 second window when toad walks down the hall at the start of the game!! This is some top teir trolling, Squaresoft.

Also, you have to successfully superjump after the16th time within a 3 frame window 100 times?????? What are you doing to completionists!

Also, that stupid guessing game??? You want me to grind that? The lightning in FFX was at least tolerable because it was rhythm. But this is just blind luck!

Ah, the game that killed off all those crappy Lawnmower man like VR games in big arcades. Those VR games sucked. Control was awful, the headsets didn't fit right, and the gyro was just annoying as you just felt a bar pressing in your chest than you felt like diving down.

Also, Squaresoft US had a pretty tight budget doing whatever they could. Their leaky faucet was used as a sound effect if i recall reading in Nintendo Power.

The game itself is all right. Not god teir like Mana, but collecting ingredients was a bit more fun than drawing in FF8. Smooth play, fun bosses, that awesome spell that removed cooldown, and the big market was cool!

Donkey Kong Country - I can't find the commerical on youtube, but it was a commercial of every review it go. A+, 100 100 100, and then flashed a hundred more reviews on a black screen with white letters. That was the commercial. It was just an adult swim style bumper that listed every accolade it got. That summed up the game. Hasn't aged at all, very playable, albeit very easy, even the 101% run.

Wasn't easy back then to me though as the stop & go level awkwardly ramped up the difficulty.

Street Fighter 2 So when the SNES came out, this is the game you had to get. All you wanted for xmas was Super Mario World and Street Fighter. nothing else. Hours and hours of mindless play. The frustrating M Bison perfect run in order to get the best ending.

Super Metroid You don't even have to jump in the first few seconds, just master moving left and right. A little tiny ledge to practice jumping. A screen that tells the story of what happened. A boss fight to practice combat. A door you can't open until you are forced to come back and you instinctively try out your new thing you got. Putting you in a room with a new item, the only way getting out is to use said item.

The game does an absolute steller job of teaching you game mechanics without you knowing it. Another game that hasn't aged at all, and I would say it can't get any better, but some of the fan creations like Revised tweak it beyond perfection :)

Super Mario World - Remember when games were packed in the console? Holy crap, when you thought SMB3 couldn't get anymore perfect among a sea of crap, out comes this game.

There was just so much to do, and so many secrets to find. Has not aged at all, and aside from the Shovel Knight designer's Mario Maker levels, I haven't seen a Mario Maker level come close to the quality of these original maps.

Its all so streamlined design, feels natural. I must have 96*'d this game at least 5 times and speed ran several times.

Super Mario Kart - The best game on XBand, which let you play people online via dial up. This is how I discovered all the glitches and shortcut in this broken game. Many sleepless nights of passing the controller when you lost in battle mode. I'd prefer a newer mario kart game though as it doesn't have much gameplay other than jumping shortcuts and item management. 150cc gold'd it many times. Has aged a little.

Zelda Link to the Past - As heard in Scott Pilgrim, this is the game where someone said "hey, you know what sex feels like? Make that feeling into a game". and it was created. Fixes everything wrong with the original zelda. Its so good even modders have trouble designing/modding something more awesome in terms of its level design. Post if you were part of the 000 club!! :D Has not aged at all
