The northern hemisphere of Mars has a significantly lower elevation than the southern hemisphere, so if Mars was ever terraformed it would almost assuredly be a massive northern ocean, a long valley sea near the equator, and a significant round sea in the south. So, when Mars is terraformed in projections, the southern half still looks reddish just from the soil color and relative arid nature of that half of the planet. So just a round sea in the south?
