And if memory serves they're actually on commission to be paid during the development process, so it's not like they're reliant on a smash success for it to be worthwhile to them. Some gamers just like to wander. Hell, I love open world games because they provide nice, mindless time sinks while looking around at places.

That being said, a thousand plus hours is a tad much for essentially any open world game. Think the most I've ever put into one was 250ish combined in Fallout 3.

A customer carrying a massive bucket enters a McDonald's from stage left. He's generic as can be, slightly overweight. The type of guy that probably believes in friend zones. It's midday, as he is unemployed. He saunters up to the counter with a smirk on his face. He nods a greeting to the cashier.

Customer: One small fries, please.
Employee: Sure thing, sir. May I interest you in...
Customer: No, just the fries please.
Employee: Yes, sir. That'll be $1.39.
Customer: Here's $1.50. Keep the change. I only tip 8%.
Employee: ooookaaaaay? Here are your fries, sir.
Customer: Thank you.

The customer then proceeds to dump the fries into his large bucket and then hands the empty fries container back to the employee.

Customer: Free refill, please.
Employee: uh... well... okay, sure. Here you go, sir.

The customer dumps the fries in his large bucket and he hands the empty container back to the employee.

The employee's eyes dart around the McDonald's.

The customer leans in, almost whispering with the force of a man used to getting his way and always outsmarting other people online.

The employee shakes uncontrollably as he repeatedly takes the empty fry container, fills it up, hands it back to the customer, only for him to dump them into his bucket and hand them right back for more. This continues for minutes on end. After a few dozen repetitions, the employee begins practically seizing.

Employee: Enough! How can you possibly want so many fries? Where are you going to take all of these?

The customer smirks.

That's a very valid question, and one that will likely lead to a pretty substantial lawsuit/settlement, but it's not necessarily a "damn diversity!" situation unless we're talking about the stunt person being a stand in for some random ancillary character that was only in one scene and therefore how they looked didn't matter at all. If she was a stand in for an Asian character, her looks could easily be very important like any other body double situation.

I think you're missing a point. Stating that they wanted a stunt person of a specific race implies that the stunt was done in such a way where you needed the stunt person to look approximately like the character they were portraying. So, if the stunt person was a stand in for an Asian character and the stunt was being portrayed in such a way where the generics of the stunt person would be clearly seen, you'd need an Asian stunt person doing the part.

Knowing absolutely nothing else about the situation, that's not a diversity issue.
