People are more likely to wear masks if they see other people wearing masks. By wearing one yourself, you add a little bit to the social pressure to wear a mask. To get from nobody wearing them to everybody wear them, some people are going to have to be the first.

When my brother committed suicide, one of the things I noticed was just how many people came and talked about the impact he had on their lives. When you're suicidal, it's easy to think things would be better for people without you, but that's not remotely true. I guarantee there's more people out there than you think that appreciate you.

The evidence is more than strong enough to have 99% certainty that the system is biased with that data set.

But if you think there needs to be more data and longer term trends then fine. If you're willing to tell me what it would take to convince you, I might just take the time to put it together for you. In exchange, if I present that data, you agree to accept that there is bias in police use of force. If you disagree with my sources you may challenge them by providing an alternate source.

Do you agree Corrik?

Thanks for looking it up, though I do expect Latinos may have gotten lumped in with whites in these stats which makes them maybe unusable.

That's 70% to 27% in crime.

That's 61% to 39% deaths.

Is that discrepancy as great as you thought it would be? I doubt it is.

Both tables have separation for Hispanic people, so that shouldn't be a factor. The discrepancy is more than large enough to provide high-confidence evidence of bias in use of force by police officers. Do you agree with this assessment?

Using FBI statistics from 2016. For violent offences, white people made up 69.6% of arrests, black people made up 26.9% of arrests.

Homicide rates by police are harder to get official sources on. I'll use Statistica for lack of an official source, and unfortunately the only source I could find from them uses 2019, but claims previous years had similar numbers. According to them, there were 331 white people killed by police, and 212 black people. Even ignoring bias in arrest rates, this shows a clear difference in force used by the police depending on the race of the suspect.

Why I took the time to put this together given it'll be dismissed out of hand, I don't know.

You always aim for the center of mass though. Less likely to have stray bullets kill civilians, if you're shooting you're (supposed to be) in a situation where stopping the target immediately is imperative, and shooting limbs doesn't even decrease lethality much anyways if I remember the stats.

This is coming from a Canadian who doesn't want guns in the same province as them, so take that how you will.

The system as I understand it would work something like this:

Assume there's two people, A and B. Each person's gibberish is simply their letter each time for simplicity's sake. A is infected, and posts their sent message log to the hospital. The hospital now has a a bunch of "A" messages in the list.
B downloads that list to see if they've heard any infected messages. B then learns that they were in contact with someone infected, because their phone received "A" as a message. They isolate, and later test positive. They submit their messages, and now the hospital has "A" and "B" in their list. However, because neither phone sent their list of messages received, the hospital has no way of learning that A infected B, or was even ever in contact with them.

If I'm reading it right the gibberish isn't encrypted, it's simply a randomly generated string. It doesn't record location data at all, and having full access to the data on any given phone gives you no information at all.

Thanks for the advice guys, it really helps. Once the lockdowns end I'll take a look. I don't deal well with heat when I'm trying to sleep, so I'll probably avoid memory foam then. How hot are the latex ones?

As for how I break the damn things... Well, I seem to somehow put 80% of my weight on one point of the mattress while I sleep and it's in the middle to rotating it does nothing. It's not broken broken, just worn down to the point where I'm feeling the metal of the springs. I don't have a good answer, it's pretty out there as far as problems go.

I have a recurring issue with my mattresses breaking way too fast. My room is pretty small so I have a twin size bed, and my hip is right in the middle of the mattress. I seem to put a lot more weight on my hips when I sleep than most people, because even a decent mattress never lasts a year.

I'm going to have to look into something different, like a topper or memory foam, but that's a big purchase to make without really knowing what I'm doing. Any advice?

This is probably dumb to post because it's going to be annoying to deal with, but regarding the Trump injection quotes...

A, Trump's talk about injection was in response to talking about using bleach and isopropyl alcohol to disinfect surfaces.

B. He specifically said injection.

C. Trump's defense of the quotes isn't to specify he was talking about an actual procedure, it was to claim he was being sarcastic to be a shit-stirrer. "I was asking a question sarcastically to reporters like you just to see what would happen,"
