...because they don't know how to write women?

Every now and then talk of a Bully sequel crops up, but instead of starring Jimmy it would be female-centric. Not much talk happens, but if you sniff around you'll find a topic that people don't really like to talk about because it's a controversial one: "Would it be any good? I would've liked an all-female Ghostbusters, it just wasn't a good movie."

Let's say we take Bully as we know it, but apply a female veneer. All the themes are more or less the same, but the main characters are girls. Some people say "That's the way it should be, because boys and girls have equal capacity for equal life experiences." Some people say "No that's not the way it should be, boys and girls have unique life experiences that can never truly cross over."

But where do you stand? You don't have to actually talk about it, just vote in the poll.

And when I don't block ads, I've never seen an ad that convinced me to buy anything. That's the goal, right? To get people to buy stuff? Are people buying stuff or are they blocking ads?

I never said I was upset about the politics, I am, but I never said I was. I'm just wondering when the turn for the political came about. Because it's not just PotD, it's much of the Internet.

And so it's intriguing to me how it is that so many places throughout all the Internet, who at one point weren't this political, suddenly decided to be this political.

Not really? Combos make sense for fighters, but variety of tactics make more sense for hack-n-slash and combos in beat-em-ups just make things more repetitive.

For fight games, probably an indie dev.

However, for hack-n-slash titles, doesn't the US *already* dominate Japan? I can't think of many big Japanese-made hack-n-slash games, certainly nothing on par with the Diablo series (although I guess the Dynasty Warriors titles are big, but that's almost like a separate genre)

Isn't Devil May Cry a hack and slash?

What do all the reviewers say makes a good fighting game or beat-em-up or hack-n-slash? A rich, deep combo system. In Japan you could say the granddaddy of that genre is Capcom. Whose talent has gone on to create some of the most lauded games in the genre.

But that's Japan. Surely the West has made games like this too? Who is our best at that? Midway/WB Games?

You gotta understand, plenty of parents get cheated by a system that is easily rooked. To lose your child for any reason is maddening. For it to get to petty spite is kinda the best case scenario. A lot of parents just kill themselves/others over losing their kids. It breaks you.

So how broken do you think a parent would be to lose their child, but also for unfair reasons? How angry are you allowed to be at that?

Also, you don't have to absolutely shit the bed as a father to not get to see your kids. You can do your best but still fail. That's where this kind of spite tends to come from.

How do Kojima and Snyder compare?

Once upon a time there was a man. And he loved movies. But also maybe video games, a little bit? And so he set out to create things that were kinda both at once. Often reviewed with "I loved it, but it was crazy. And whoever made it is crazy."

But the fat cats. The big wigs. With their penny pinching and their bean counting. They would meddle with his creations. Because the fat cats, the big wigs, they only see value in monetary gain and industry dominance. And thanks to them this man's greatest artistic endeavor was hampered. What should've been a cultural force of nature more or less faded into irrelevance as the last whisper of better days.

The man fought his case. "I was gonna do so much more!" But the big fat wigs, they denied up and down the existence of any "epilogue" or "extra content" left on the cutting room floor. But in time the man proved there WAS such content, doing the best he could with what he had to create sort of a half-formed "Here's Some Concepts Of What I Wanted To Do If I Had All The Time, Money, & Freedom To Do It" piece. To which people said "See? He really is a genius of the craft! Look at what we might've gotten if he had been free to create! Those big cats puffing their cigars and wringing palms don't have an appreciation for art!" The man was declared the underdog victor against an industry that needed him more than he needed them.

And so the people put faith in him as an independent creator. Let him be free to do his absolute own thing. The fat cats had it their way and they failed. We saw what we might've gotten to have. Let's let the artist do his art. And so he did just that.

But when it was released, well, you could say response was mixed. Because upon seeing this thing, created with more freedom and resources than he had ever had before, a lot of people were like "Okay, yes, the last thing he made, the Whigs wouldn't let him do it. But does that really mean everything he touches is gold? Come to think of it, let's revisit some of the other stuff he made."

But a lot of other people were like "You're looking at this through the wrong lens. You're reviewing a pizza to see if it makes a good truck tire. Because you don't 'understand' the art this man makes. It's for people like us. And the French."

This man's story I guess you could say is the story of every man. Every man, woman, and child who dared to dream.

I'd get excited for a new Elder Scrolls game if they ever decided to stop remaking Skyrim

Here's another thing to notice about the industry over time. There was a point in time where a bunch of developers/publishers were like "This is it, this is kinda the magnum opus of the franchise, we can just Half-Life 2 this for the rest of our lives." For Elder Scrolls, it was Skyrim. For Grand Theft Auto, it was 5. And notice these games were made around the same time.

I think some time after this point there was a shift in the industry, where it was better to ride the reputation of a single game.

By "love of video games" I don't just mean that you like a game, or like a few games. I mean you follow industry news, and engage in community discussion. It's E3 stream talkback threads, hype trains, "most wanted in Smash" forum games, that kind of thing. If you ever enjoyed that stuff, and if you ever stopped enjoying that stuff, when was it? AIDS is real, AIDS kills lots of people. The deaths surprised and scared people back in the 80s and everyone was like "Wear a condom."

But imagine you've been doing everything to everyone at every seedy all-male revue that the outskirts of town is zoned for. And so far you don't have AIDS. Or if you do have AIDS, you don't mind it. It's not giving you any symptoms you care about. Maybe at one point you were afraid of AIDS, but you've been very careless and so far nothing's happened to you. How are you supposed to feel?

Maybe you start to feel like you gotta be really unlucky to catch/suffer from AIDS. All those people in the hospital wasting away, they must've had something really wrong with them because you're not special, and yet AIDS hasn't taken you. Maybe you start to feel like AIDS isn't something normal healthy people have to worry about, it's only people who are already badly off health-wise.

This was the reality for a lot of people during the AIDS epidemic. Despite all the risk, they rolled the dice, and nothing happened to them.

Best I can understand is that it's like a cryptocoin, in that it's a unique piece of digital art/information that only you own.

This is the future we live in, people. Someone paid actual money to "own" a video that they're deluding themselves into thinking they can keep off of the Internet. They think they can buy this and be the only one to enjoy it. It'll never work. It hasn't worked for anything you can put on the Internet.
