I think by saying "denying healthcare" it is being softly implied that like insulin, ER visits, and cancer drugs are being denied to transpeople just because they are trans. Not that everybody will think that, but "denying healthcare" paints with a very broad brush, a brush that allows for that interpretation. And honestly I do think there are TONS of people who just read headlines and are bombarded with non-specific very short statements like "Republicans are fighting to deny LGBTQ people healthcare!"

What if I told you that gender affirming care is just as necessary as those things?

Not reseeding between the first and second round is fucking stupid

Logistically, it allows them to reduce the time between series: the Nuggets and Suns, who both had quick first-round series, got started with their second round series on Saturday while the Warriors didn't finish round 1 until yesterday.

They are seeded 1-8 at the start of the playoffs, with the bracket set up so that the 1 and 2 seeds won't meet until the conference finals. The bracket is fixed at this point, and they don't re-seed between rounds.

Question: what problems does this actually solve? Are those problems worth the incredibly massive problems such a "divorce" would produce?

To give more context (and I probably could've made this clear earlier) today she had a get together with me/a bunch of her friends present, to show off the place, and talk about what she's discussed with architects about the renovations. And afterwards we had a brief talk where she floated the idea of me having input in that design process, especially further down the line. But she did also say it was too early to talk about living together, just that the topic felt unavoidable given the circumstances.

I'm not really concerned or stressing about whether it'll happen, and I'm content to let her guide the process of how that comes about. I guess my issue stems from what the best way to do that is.

I'm not clear on that. She could well have paid in full, but she talked about it once in terms of a place she'd live for 10 years, which makes me think she might have a mortgage.

Right, I'm not under any illusions there. That's as it should be. I'd be happy to contribute to the bills or whatever to the extent that I can, but this place is way beyond the means of what I could afford it even if I was splitting it 50/50 with her.

So she is undergoing the process of having a townhouse renovated in DC. This is a place she officially bought a few months ago, and I figure that process would've had to start well before that, before we were officially a couple, which happened as of October last year.

It's never been explicitly stated, but I feel like the implication has been that when it's done, (next year at the earliest), we'll be living together in this townhouse. We both have really felt comfortable in the relationship to this point, and I see no reason right now to assume we won't last another year and beyond. I recognize, though, that these things are fluid; we're dating, not married, and a lot can change in 12+ months.

In the back of my mind, it's hard not to have the thought of "if things go as planned, this will be my home too." I'm not looking to claim ownership of it by any means. It's not my money that bought it. I've always talked about it as "her" townhouse, not "ours."

I don't know if any of this is really a problem, exactly. And if anything needs to be addressed between the two of us, it doesn't have to happen right away. It's just a weird situation I find myself in and I'm using this topic to try and articulate a way of thinking about it.
