Like yeah, the Wii was the console for people who didn't play video games before and haven't played them since, so I guess it's unique in that regard

For all this talk of the Wii making video games less niche, it still didn't outsell the PS2 or even PS1, so it can't have brought that many new players in, and most people who weren't gamers and bought Wii Fit or whatever probably didn't stick around.

90s were important formative times for console gaming being something that wasn't super niche
