Why are you using the GBA tunes for PW:T&T?

I love AAI's rendition of Gumshoe's theme. It reminds me of the Lunar games. It's easily in my top 20. Yeah, the way Gyakuten Sisters Ballad uses all its little instrument voices is just....flawless. And, it's the fact that the bass fills in wherever the melody takes a break that makes Examination ~ Moderate 2001 so dang awesome.

Whooo, my favorite topic on Board 8 right now! Don't mind the fact that I'm mentioning mainly what I disagree on....

Hmmm....

1)I think Investigation ~ Middlegame 2009 is excellent and very suspenseful, better than the Investigation ~ Opening.

2)Kudos for ranking AAI the higehst with its victory theme.

3)Kudos for ranking PW2's objection theme over that of PW3 or AAI.

4)I hate seeing Examination ~ Allegro 2002 ranked so low, but there are many good pieces, true.... plus, I can't blame anyone for ranking it last among the Allegros.

5)Cross Examination ~ Moderate 2004 - should be a bit higher, methinks. There's just something special about the atmosphere in this one. I think this and Apollo Justice's are the two best Exam ~ Moderates.

Its marketed primarily to children, end of story. For children only, though? Nah. (the show, though, I would say so)

#1 and #7 only apply to the Anime, and #5 and #6 are partially valid.; obviously there are no mature themes and the art is enjoyed most by kids. The games are not hard, but I say they are more difficult than, say, most Final Fantasies.

Better stage design, way better music, better gameplay ideas, waaaaaay better graphics, better bosses.... yeah, I'll side with Yoshi's Island.

SMW has an awesome world map and its secrets are on a completely different level, though. Plus, there's more variety in who you play as: Mario or Luigi, and you can be with or without Yoshi. And no crying babies.

I think this contest was slightly better than the 2006 series contest, so I don't think it was quite the worst one. I think the Trainers in and of themselves gave the Rivalry Rumble a redeeming quality. If you think otherwise, please give me an explanation, though I'd prefer you tell me something that was good about the series contest.

Sonic and Mega Man should probably be brought up somehow, given how badly they were roflstomped. No idea how that would be accomplished though.

Also, I can't express how happy I am with how high X/Zero ended up despite being fed to Mario (and subsequently to Link). They're probably a top 5 team in the bracket in proper stats. I'd have taken them over the Snakes now that we saw how crappy Cloud looked.

Sonic might be a touch too low, but I think Mega Man/Wily is fine. Sub-Zero/Scorp probably beats him in a non-nailbiter.

Aside from Squall's division, they actually look pretty good to me. Everything else I could at least consider being accurate. (aside from Lloyd/Kratos). Adjusting Mario or the Trainers makes the numbers look worse to me.

So, for the most "official" stats, I vote simply adjusting Cloud/Sephiroth vs. Squall/Seifer and leaving everything else alone. At least everyone can agree on that. Moving Mario up 1-2% or something just because we are positive of Link/Mario SFF, though....I just don't think it's significant enough to really warrant doing an adjustment.

Looks like I missed some.... interesting.... arguments over x-stats adjustments. So, apparently it's nuts to think Mario/Bowser avoided SFF against Link, and it's also nuts to think the Red/Blue did not overperform significantly against Cloud/Sephiroth. And it took a long time for somebody (Xuxon) to bring up Mario vs. Trainers -- maybe it was even more inaccurate than Cloud/Sephy vs. the Trainers. Not that I believe it, but the possibility needed to be thrown out there.

So, I will ask this question:

Would it be nuts to think that Mario/Bowser vs. Cloud/Sephiroth result could possibly be outside the 51.5%-53.5% range? Considering how far everyone has been off trying to predict Linkondorf vs. Clouderoth, Trainers vs. Clouderoth, and Linkondorf vs. Mowser, I think chances are pretty good it of it being outside that range. I would still bet on it being somewhere inside that range, myself, though.

I mean, I still can't imagine how Cloud/Sephiroth could do worse on Link/Ganon than Cloud against Link 1v1, which means that Cloud can't even break 42% against Link now. Which is.....ugh.

I want to bring up something else not mentioned. I had a hard time believing this pre-contest, myself. In retrospect I'm not as surprised, thought. If we were in the year 2002 when FF7 was still relatively fresh in gamers' minds, Cloud/Sephiroth would have been a force to be reckoned with. Today, though, I think that most gamers haven't played FF7 in such a long time that they don't really care about the story anymore, which would affect a plot-driven rivalry like Cloud/Sephiroth. (This also makes me wonder if Frog/Magus could have been quite a bit stronger back then, too....)

Still, like others have stated, maybe the explanation could be that rivalries across multiple games mean that much more. The effect of something relatively simple like a single character (Cloud) is much harder to erase in a game that hasn't been played for a long time.

For a company contest, I'd be hestitant: Nintendo and Square would probably lay down record numbers. If Zelda got 74% on Metal Gear, Nintendo might get 80% on Konami.

Man, I didn't expect the Trainers to do so well on Cloud/Sephiroth yesterday. This will cause the stats to put Ryu/Ken and Samus/Ridley over the Snakes! And....I have no calculator on hand, but it should put Big Boss/The Boss almost even with Solid Snake/Liguid Snake! Here are two possible explanations:

1)The Trainers overperformed on Cloud/Sephiroth (due to the Trainers' good showing combined with a low morale from FF7 fans)
2)Cloud/Sephiroth SFFed the Snakes.... could be very credible.... see Sephiroth vs. Liquid Snake, for instance.

If #1 is the case, that could likely mean Linkondorf vs. Mowser has no SFF. But because I'm sure everyone will be so certain that there is SFF in today's match we would have no choice to side with option #2 or something else, hm?

I'm not sure if it's mentioned yet, but if Link/Gdorf wins the ultimate loser is Dan/Sagat.

It looks like Cloud/Sephiroth didn't get too many anti-votes, after all (round 1 aside)! Everyone in the Oracle challenge ignored past results simply because they thought Link/Cloud had to be pretty close.... but they were all wrong this time. And I thought I was crazy predicting Link/Ganondorf with 58% in the Oracle Challenge.... (almost all my other predictions WERE crazy, though) Looks like we should have predicted based on the stats, after all!

And, hey, today and yesterday predicts Mario gets about 47% on Link. Hey, what if Mario somehow manages to rSFF Link for the victory because people suddenly realize "hay Mario/Bowser is the better rivalry"? Dream on, Haste...
