Really like the gameplay, but there are some performance issues and I had issues with the game crashing similar to FFX-2. This might not be a problem on new-gen consoles though (played on original XBONE via Game Pass). This almost feels like cheating getting a trope that applies to every modern game! Great game that was wise to implement backup saves since I had a bug come up often. There were times when the screen wouldn't follow me because the next area was still loading in; if I kept moving off screen, then when the area finished loading I would sometimes end up stuck in a wall. Luckily there's also an in-game warp function to mitigate this as well so in the end it's only a minor inconvenience. 37/50 --- Save in the name of true love ~Project 1000~ |

Beat a spin-off or a game that rebooted a franchise Final Fantasy X-2 HD Remaster (plus Last Mission) I possibly figured what was causing the crashes that I talked about awhile back. For some reason, if I did a lot of dress-sphere changes over a period of time the game would eventually crash at the start of a battle. I tested out a stretch of gameplay with no sphere changes mid-battle and didn't have any issues, so I was able to finally finish the game. Not sure if this is something that only happens with the XBox One version or not, but I figured I'd put this out there. Anyway, this was a platinum which is something I normally don't have the time or patience to do, but FFX is one of my favorite games and FFX-2 didn't have any really stupid achievements so I went for it. All in all final total time was around 350 hours (although a chunk of that was idle time, the Nemesis grind, and messing around in creature creator). 35/50 --- Save in the name of true love ~Project 1000~ |

Very good Metroidvania though there are some little things that irritate me. You can miss quite a bit of content, and the game doesn't give any hints whatsoever on what will or won't lock you out of it. Beat three games in a series Final Fantasy VIII Remastered Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Final Fantasy X HD Remaster For FFX, this was a 100% run, which I've never done before until now. The grind was real! I was working on FFX-2 100% to get the full platinum, but unfortunately for some reason the game crashes every 20 minutes without fail. Not sure why it never happened with the first game, but as it is now it's impossible to finish. I'll give it another go when I eventually get a Series X if it's still on Game Pass by then, but for now I'm moving on. --- Save in the name of true love ~Project 1000~ |

This game is shorter but is the same escape room style of game 37. Beat a game you'd dropped or had a long hold on The House In Fata Morgana. So this started as a game I would just hop in for an hour at a time since the pacing in the early parts is pretty slow. For whatever reason I held on it for quite some time while I focused on other things. Decided to hop back on it recently, and after a certain point everything just clicked for me, and I couldn't put in down the rest of the way. This is absolutely an incredible visual novel. My only knock on it is the pacing at the beginning, but once the game gets going it never stops. This is a must play; I played the Steam version but I think the PS4 and Switch versions have extra content so I'd probably go that route. 24/50 --- Save in the name of true love ~Project 1000~ |

The story is still the major weak spot; after replaying several other games in the series recently it seemed to me that there were far fewer cutscenes compared to all the others. I still don't like the art design although the FMVs do look great. The soundtrack remains one of the weakest in the series (nothing is offensive, but nothing is really memorable either). However, the gameplay is where this really shines. I remembered liking the gambit system even back in the day, and I still do now. In fact, I liked the gameplay so much that I got the platinum for this game, which I can't say for any other Final Fantasy (mainly cause the others had at least one stupid trophy/achievement, or in FF9's case half of them are dumb). 19/50 --- Save in the name of true love ~Project 1000~ |

I won't list all the reasons as much of it probably falls into personal preference, but I will say the most egregious offense: the game is unbelievably slow. I've never played a game where the camera moves at a snail's pace even when set at max speed. Even the battles at max speed kind of drag. 12. Beat a game made by a developer you've never tried Cyber Shadow (Mechanical Head Studios). After the 230 hour slog from DQ11, this was a nice short refresher, clocking in at 6 hours. I enjoyed it quite a bit, reminds me of Ninja Gaiden but without the bullshit. 16/50 --- Save in the name of true love ~Project 1000~ |
