Chucky movies beated (well, not the 2019 reboot yet)

first two Child's Play were fine, the third got boring... but then Bride & Seed got real fun! Definitely just feels like pure comedy at that point but then again I don't think any of them were scary. Seed can be a bit dated on gender, but it's absolutely impressive for 2004 so I appreciate it. I hear the TV series does it better with a more modern grasp

Curse of Chucky definitely took the series another way again, but this time actually doing well to bring an actual sense of horror to the series with a tight family massacre plot that gives really neat tie-backs in the end.

... Cult of Chucky tho what the fuck? it feels like it just through everything out the window, a surprisingly disappointing follow-up for what I thought the previous entry left as good footing.

ugh, gdad's relationship with gsis has soured so incredibly poorly throughout these 11 days of her stay that now it's the last day and she's just locked herself up in the bedroom with her family which also cuts out my final moments with her and my niece

so awkward after starting this year living with them and now after 6 months together this is the last day coming up on bedtime now and not even a goodnight because gdad's made the environment here too hostile

family visit at gmoms today, with gsis gniece and one cousin visiting... and gbro

first mistake when cousin mentioned the news with Russia, and gbro went on an endless Putinist tirade as everyone slowly left to the living room one by one

a few more instances where he kept trying to shove the conversation onto vaccines, masks, diversity, etc every single opportunity he could and trying to speak non-stop whenever he could pull the conversation there

one time gsis mentioned an anecdote about meeting vanilla ice at the ottawa airport and gbro's like "I got a story like that!"... and it was about harassing a black girl for wearing a mask at the airport, calling it a "slave mask", and whining when he was called out for being a racist prick and he whined about the "race card"... and that was the anecdote he had to tell to a room and you could just hear a needle drop the silence was so dead, until everyone just points out uhhh so you just initiated a confrontation harassing someone? you're definitely in the wrong and what's the relation to the vanilla ice story???

another moment when gsis and cousin had a conversation leading into not taking a partner's last name and gbro chimes in that he how he believes in "traditional values" and then he describes himself as a "traditional man" and gsis pointed out he's literally wearing fishnet sleeves and a cat collar this very moment and the room just burst out in laughter lmao - like holy shit how does gbro say those words in a straight face calling himself a "traditional man" when he's known to casually go out in public with cat ears/paws/tail like dude your style is literally the blue haired stereotype (he literally had blue hair 3 years ago)

still somehow the day was moderately calm throughout, a few moments of utter stupidity like that, him praising mr. dick milking conspiracy theorist jordan b peterson and I just fucking laugh until he gets embarrassed and leaves to the guest room to lie down for a while

... but then the end of the day happened as he whines about not being able to land a job because of "diversity hires" and whining about minorities and throwing in a "fuck Pride" which is my jumping off point where I leave to hang out with gniece upstairs listening to baby shark.

i could hear the arguing continue and get louder downstairs though as my sister who usually keeps the calm peace keeping tone completely scorches his ass when he complains about minorities getting "handouts" while he's literally on disability with his rent paid for entirely by his mom who endlessly bails him out and how he would never have he academic accreditation without the incredible support and privileges he was fed growing up

that's basically all I could hear though as the arguing eventually broke apart and he went on the deck for a smoke. cousin was originally gonna bring him back to toronto with her since she's the one who drove him in but then after this she's like oh no I really don't want to be in the car with him like this

oh yeah there was another weird part where he was insulting gdad calling him autistic and it's like wtf you're literally diagnosed with ASD how are you possibly using that as an attack

also when he was whining about the LGBT community, as I left to go upstairs gsis apparently pointed out how gbro literally told her in the past that he experimented in his earlier years so how tf is he whining about gays and talking himself up as a "traditional man"

but man so much of the shit he was saying was just such an obvious script reading of the most generic right-wing talking points that explicitly go against how he's lived his life to now and it was just so insane. and repeatedly through the day he's whining that nobody likes him and nobody cares about his feelings meanwhile when he's being straight-ass homophobic in front of me he plays the "fuck your feelings" route. dude nobody likes you because you're an asshole

for yesterday gsis was gonna spend the whole day with gdad because he keeps complaining to her that she's not around enough. so they go to the royal botanical gardens with gsis... but according to gsis he was so still clearly thinking about the hairdresser the whole time and getting super anal about taking pictures obviously to post on facebook specifically for her to see. like it's known that the hairdresser posts photos of herself with roses so gdad really wants to get pictures of gsis with roses to post.

Then get home yada-yada eat yada, gdad takes a nap so I finally get to put on Everything Everywhere All at Once for gsis to see which I've been trying for ages but there's never the time. All good, gdad wakes up, for the first while just watches the movie with us, enjoying it, having a good time and laughing... but then he gets a sudden absolutely urgent need to post the photos from earlier on Facebook. This is when he keeps calling me over for help because he doesn't know how to use computers, disrupting the movie.

He asks me to put the SD Card reader USB in because he can't find the ports, I do it thinking he's got the rest, then he complains again because an error popped up while he was doing something and says he wants to move all the pictures to his computer. I'm not just gonna pause everything to sit and wait 5 minutes to monitor the file transfer so I say I'll just load it on my computer then he can download it wirelessly without having to deal with hardware errors. I do exactly that but the whole time gdad's impatient and starts searching around his office for something??? over time his "searching" gets louder and loader, we hear bins falling and gdad cursing loudly, and when we ask what's wrong he just says he's looking for something, and then complains that the pictures aren't done so clearly that's the actual issue driving him mad.

I'll point out it's 10:45 pm at this time he urgently NEEDS to post these pictures to FB even though nobody's freaking stalking your FB waiting in baited breath to see your status update but no, gdad doesn't understand how normal human beings with their own actual lives and I remind you, a whole ass family of her own and aren't just glued onto Facebook eager to see your posts.

but yeah because he was too disruptive I had to cancel the movie halfway through and go fully download the photos to his computer and go to bed

... or so I thought. 12:30 I try to quietly go to the washroom, and yeah I go unnoticed but I still just hear him shouting obscenities at his computer that he can't figure something out. I go back to my bed though so okay I'm safe. Nope. A few minutes later he goes out to the balcony to stare into my bedroom window to see if I'm awake (I have youtube running, lights off, me laying in bed aka how i go to sleep), and then I hear his footsteps again as he rushes to my bedroom door, opens and asks me to upload his pictures into facebook because he doesn't know how. 1am now and he urgently needs this done and he's going crazy over it, when any reasonable person would understand nothing you post at 1am is being seen ffs

checking now and the hairdresser still hasn't commented or responded to his post and now gdad's saying he wants to delete his FB because nobody cares (he deletes his socials like a couple times a year like this)

he just doesn't understand that no, he isn't the center of this woman's universe - nor should be as I repeat she has a whole as life with a career and family of her own

a 2 month old "relationship" this is, although he tries to say they've known each other for "decades", but then that "knowing each other" is just your typical customer relationship with your hairdresser until very recently.

as for overall episode impressions I was pretty bored for most of it, though finally started getting into later half y'know as Nick Fury starts getting into the picture... and then the spoiler happened and ouch.

could get better but for now I mean I can see why the early reviews aren't happy if they just got this and whatever's next week

gdad did the thing where he says something rude and then tells you to relax if it upsets you, and I perfectly pointed it out right there that gdad always explicitly says that he HATES when people do that to him (he gets incredibly angry if you tell him to relax or calm or at-all point out his anger)

and sure he got flustered to have that pointed out, but after a second he did apologize for doing it

but since gsis is so afraid of making gdad angry she tells me to "let it go" like I'm the bad guy for making one very simple concise statement that did in fact effectively get the point across and resulted in an apology for gdad's typical rude behaviour that she just negated

I've mentioned before that gsis gets the most shit from our parents and this is a great example why, she prefers to tank the abuse than to ever give the very slightest of push-backs to stand up for herself. I know there are *plenty* of losing battles that aren't worth it with gdad, but you need to draw a line somewhere and that's partly why I don't get as much shit from him. Meanwhile gbro just full-on screams and gets violent and he gets everything he wants

gsis initially moved back home with the hope that their first grandchild would trump everything and she could have that ideal family life... but then gmom completely exploded leaving no choice but to leave, and by now just time and time again interacting with our parents just repeats that same lesson that our family brings nothing but trauma which encourages further isolation

talking to gdad about it is completely impossible, when anyone says his words or actions are harmful he takes offense at the insinuation he could do any wrong and reacts in anger. I've tried to tell gmom the only thing we can do is provide a positive family environment gsis can feel at ease with, but gmom perceives herself to be the most brilliant manipulative mastermind when in reality it's so blatantly transparent every time she tries to force her own guidance on gsis and is incredibly pushy about it while disregarding her feelings and again reacting in anger when gsis won't follow along with the specific path gmom clearly wants to be taken

GotG3 beated, nice to have a great movie again! A real palette cleanser after Quantumania, couldn't help comparing High Evolutionary favourably to Kang when he's got his tech suit force pushing people the same except this time with some presence throughout the movie, lots of it flashbacks for Rocket like Quantumania did for Kang & Janet but ohhhh so much more engaginggg.

I think it's gotta be my favourite Guardians.

he also hosted Cottontail & Vexoria's adult panel, then today saw him in the back with glowsticks at vtuber karaoke

which btw holy crap impressed me from the jump with bkbk tomoko, then Anime North Idol's own Yumemi turned vtuber with some great stage presence cheering on the crowd her call & responses, then oh wow Nana Asteria's visuals astounded me.
