The area I stay at isn't that bad mostly Hispanics though. Chinatown is located to the west of Houston on beltway 8 and Bellaire it's a nice are you can find decent homes for $180k-$250k on that area. I'm too lazy to draw out a map for you but it's a nice area. You get several main roads running on that area. Weather is crazy we get cold, rain, heat randomly at times. I can rent a 1br apartment in or near Chinatown in good safe areas for less than $1,000/month and buy decent houses in decent places for $250k or less? If you or anyone else can tell me all the good and bad areas that'd be great. I remember there was a mass flooding in Houston not too long ago. How often does that happen? Carlbertomfg posted... Traffic. Makes Dallas look smooth as hell by comparison. I kinda expected a lot of traffic in a big city. Hopefully it's not the gridlocked kind of traffic in the city streets or taking 25 minutes to go 2 miles on the freeway. |

Houston is VERY Asian-friendly. We have our own Chinatown, and there are many Asian populations all over the city and metropolitan area. It's a great place to live. It's fairly cheap to live here. You can find work. You can rent an apartment for $500-$600. I have an all-bills-paid apartment that's a one bedroom, one study with washer/dryer and cable for $905/month. People are mostly friendly. PepperoniMaster posted... I'm assuming TC's Asian. If so, Houston has a huge population of Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, and Filipino. It even has its own Chinatown with new businesses opening up regularly. That's good to hear cause if I decide to move there I know I'll be with my own kind as well as other minorities. Growing up I always hear Texas is super racist and that's probably true everywhere including Houston, California and New York but it seems like if there's a lot of different ethnicitys/races, different cultures, etc. in an area seems like everyone gets along better and seems like there's less racism. I would probably feel weird being in a city with no or very few Asians. |

Just want to know what I can get from paying $1,000 to $1,500 of rent. Would I be able to live in a good area? Would I be able to live comfortably and save up if I earn $30k a year after taxes? Is it truly that hot outside that people stay inside most of the time and run AC all the time? How diverse is Houston, especially with the Asian population? Are there a bunch of different ethnicities/races like the Bay Area or New York? Someone could say there's a lot of diversity but maybe it's diverse in that city but compared to another city it might not be. |

And people on CE say I'm crazy for commuting 30 minutes from Indiana to Chicago. If your commute is 30 minutes you are pretty damn lucky Romulox28 posted... you're going to burn out and have a complete meltdown in like 3 months with a commute like that I've did a few test runs and what kept me sane was the music that's why I'm making this topic. The motivation to get to work and make money is also what makes it less tedious. |

| GSWarriors- 10/24/18 5:30:38 PM #23 | Goddamn. I think I am just a bit frustrated and embarrassed I didn't go straight to the English class that I needed as a pre requisite for college. This essay was part of an assessment test for college to see where it places me for English. I am taking the math assessment at a later date. It's been over 6 years since I last wrote an essay. My thinking was English isn't that important and the assessment (essay+40 multiple choice questions) would be easy and it did seem easy but I guess I failed the multiple choice too. But after 6+ years away from writing it probably wouldn't be so bad to be placed in lower level English, reading and writing classes so I can develop those skills as well as improve critical thinking. I was a pretty damn good writer though or at least my English teachers in the past thought so getting B's and A's on my essays but that was a while ago. |

They should've asked easier questions like do you agree with abortion?, do you think health care should be free?, should the death penalty be abolished?, etc. Not some bullshit ass question like do you think competition is positive, negative or both? What made it worst was I had a time limit. I think that fucked me up and I couldn't really think up of better stuff to write. I did do the 5 paragraph thing and I could've done really well if it was a different question/topic. |
