I previously took calls for a company that contracted call center employees to other companies, our contract at the time was with Verizon. It was miserable. You had to simultaneously make the customers happy while making sure they didn't want to cancel their service (even if they had a completely legitimate reason to do so) and giving them as few free credits as possible. And no matter what abuse they threw your way you had to take it and couldnt hang up on them.

I currently take calls for the IRS. It's freaking great, especially compared to the Verizon crap I had to put up with. Now I have the freedom to actually do my job correctly and not take BS from callers. I typically staff the line for people who are expecting a refund for their taxes so it's a lot of navigating accounts and figuring out what went wrong to help people get the money they have coming. But ultimately when I provide the correct answer to their question I don't have to take any abuse just because they don't like the answer. "I've already told you that the time frame for your issue is to allow up to 60 days from XX date, I'm sorry it takes this long, but that is currently the correct processing time for (insert issue here). If you are going to continue to yell I can disconnect the call." I still have to be professional, but if someone is going to come at me despite my calm demeanor and ability to de-escalate most situations? Well they are just gonna have to call in again and try to be nicer to the next person.

With all that said, I much prefer days where I'm not scheduled on the phones. They don't come often enough, but when I'm not handling calls I get to help process the mountain of backlogged paperwork. It usually involves dealing with similar issues, but without having to verbally talk to someone so I can just throw on some music and do the job undisturbed.

And since COVID I only have to report to the office 1 day a week and get to telework the other 4.

Welp after seeing literally everything else I'm going to see this one now.

It was... not good?

Other than a few cool moments it is a movie that may as well have not existed.

No stakes, no consequences. Except maybe Clooney? which can't possibly carry forward so I stand by no consequences.

Here's some other timelines.
Here's why they don't matter to the characters you know already.
Such odd choices to convince me there's even less of a reason to be invested in anything that happened.

it's easy to see a movie you aren't super excited about when you are paying the monthly fee to see unlimited movies

Saw this on thursday and enjoyed it. Didn't reinvent the wheel by any means, but it was enjoyable. It was less of a Romeo and Juliet story of forbidden love and more of a story of being a second generation immigrant with all the expectations that entails . Yeah it has elements of forbidden romance, but the Fire/Water connection takes a backseat to someone dealing with figuring out how to live up to her family's expectations.

I actually didn't care for the Carl's Date short however, but that feels more like a me thing and my preferences.

I almost saw this yesterday, but then I saw Across the Spiderverse for the 3rd time.

Don't know if the Flash showings were full, but Spiderverse was still completely packed.

Sorry, Tony, but I'm glad you had that chance to connect with him recently. I appreciate the reminder. I have a standing appointment each week to spend a few hours hanging out with my mom. We've been doing it for a few years now and it's been good for us, but my dad remarried a couple years ago and moved 2,000+ miles away so we've fallen into the pattern of only really talking a few times a year. I'll have to make an effort to remedy that.

This was my biggest issue with it too. They even showed Earth 42 on the screen in big letters when he got scanned and it still took absolutely forever for them to get to the reveal that he was there. Other than that though almost everything was perfect. March 2024 is soooooo far away.

I do agree that they let a couple things breathe just a bit too long at the end.

First it was the fact that the machine was sending him to the wrong universe. The 42 was plain to see on the screen, so much so that I was confused when I realized they were setting up a reveal. When they flashed a massive 42 in the middle of the screen it an immediate "oh no, wrong universe!" moment. They should have just not shown it at all beforehand, they had already set up that it "detects the universe's DNA" so they had done enough to justify that it might send him to the wrong place, and then just flash back to a screen that the audience didn't see in real time.

Second was the reveal that Miles-42 was the Prowler. That whole sequence before he unmasked felt painstakingly slow.

But neither of those things really detracted from an amazing movie experience.

ENDING SPOILER WARNING DO NOT READ IF YOU WANT TO GO IN BLIND

I wanted to go in as completely blind as possible so I avoided any internet buzz leading up to the screening so... I and at least a good half of my auditorium were completely caught off guard. In retrospect it makes perfect sense. I wasn't keeping track of time because I was too busy watching the stunning visuals to tear my eyes away from the screen, but I will say "the most comic book ending ever" (term coined by my husband, don't steal) came just when I was starting to think a few two many plot threads were starting to fray in a manner that would be impossible to stitch back together in 15-20 minutes without completely rushing it and botching the ending.

I'm still so bloody disappointed and excited at the same time. I'm beyond hyped for Beyond the Spider-Verse, but I'd be lying if I told you I didn't feel my heart sink to the ground when the "To Be Continued" came onto the screen. It's nothing like the end of Infinity War even, and that would be the closest comparison I think. When I saw that one in theaters my auditorium was dead silent for like 3 minutes before people started buzzing about Endgame. With this one before the credits even started to roll people were in shock and asking how they could leave us dangling on a cliff by a single thread like that and I completely agree. How long will I have to wait to see this story concluded!?

I went in similarly blind and I think that probably improved how I felt about it. I also was just beginning to realize there's no way they have enough time left to put a satisfying conclusion together and given the options I prefer getting a whole other movie versus a rushed ending. According to wikipedia they're projecting a March 2024 release so at least we're not waiting another 4 and a half years.

It was SO GOOD!

Gonna go see it again as soon as possible.

It was visually stunning of course but did so many great things with the story as well.

Part of your World was fantastic.

Under the sea was lackluster.

Scuttle rap was awkward and needed more Sebastian.

The new Prince Eric song was okay but hard to hear over the environmental noises so imo it didn't have a strong impact. Gonna chalk that one up to sound design.

Melissa McCarthy was great as Ursula. It just worked and didn't require any adjustment of expectations.

Flounder felt like he was barely in the movie which was probably for the best.

There were a few deviations in terms of plot structure I was confused by and a few I thought were good adjustments.

All in all my low expectations were exceeded.

Better team won tbh

Possibly. The core of the warriors dynasty doesn't have as much in the tank and they used to and the newer pieces didn't step it up when they needed to. Not to mention Draymond doing more harm than good in his attempt to galvanize the team... but it didn't deserve to end yet. Game 4 was a winning performance imo and a game 7 loss would have been easier to bear.

Puke

The warriors needed to play well enough to win 1 in LA to stay in the series.

4 days ago they did exactly that. We should be going to 7 instead of getting eliminated right now.
