Selfishly, I'd like to include anything even tangentially related to Mega Man as Mega Man fangames & rip-offs are arguably my favorite genre and I want to listen to all of the music. I practically wanted to squeal with joy learning about Mechanic Man.

Practically, the number of games with Mega Man/Rockman in the title is so ludicrously massive that the contest hardly needs *more* options, so I get why I'm likely in the minority on this one.

I'll take a bit more time to decide on the album votes this week. I've wanted an excuse to listen to an R.E.M. album for quite a while now so anything by them should be an automatic vote from me, but I'm oddly drawn to Robert Smith's vocals & very tempted to go off script by voting for The Cure. I love Mega Man & Sonic music, so I'd be excited about them. I'm less familiar with Pokemon, but I'd be interested in hearing any particularly deep cuts and would try to follow along to vote anyway. I don't know that I've ever liked any Smash-exclusive songs... I'd stick around for the first round to give it a chance, but I'm skeptical that I'd enjoy it. (Though lots of other people would and my music tastes are rarely compatible with anyone, so I have a suspicion that it would be the best option anyway.)

I had to switch browsers to watch the videos in match two. gravityWall would crash at 1:17 each time (and attempting to skip past it would also crash) & MIRACLE would stop to buffer every two seconds. Thankfully, both videos play without incident on Firefox, so I really have no idea what the problem is.

For some reason, my phone had a very hard time playing Hikaru Nara. The video always freezes and has to be restarted exactly 22 seconds in; I can get around it by skipping past the freeze point, but it's weird and the only video this happens on (so far anyway).

Also, I didn't touch it, but you can design your own tracks. I'm no historian, but I feel like a level designer is pretty impressive for the mid-80's. Does anyone know any other games that have one from this time period?

It released a few years later (1986), but the Master System's "World Grand Prix" was a racing game where you could make your own track. I had some fun with that back in the day.

Also, this is a fun topic, I just have nothing to contribute. Definitely following along though.

It feels good to cover a Madonna album and I generally enjoyed this. I'd say I liked my top 6 songs here, which is a pretty good amount. I'm less into the other half of the album, but that's how I seem to feel about her work in general anyway.

I'm admittedly not familiar with that one, but a quick glance shows it has a unique sound compared to her other albums & I liked what I heard from it. Wikipedia also declares it to be her best work, so that's definitely in the conversation for best album & something I should have mentioned.

I feel like there isn't a clearly defined best album for Madonna, though this is a likely candidate. At least, it took first place on the two "best Madonna albums" lists I cared to check. "True Blue" is her best selling non-compilation album--at least according to the internet. "Like a Virgin" also has more copies sold than Prayer, so that one should also be in the conversation.

And her self-titled debut album also has some of her biggest hits, so while not as successful, there's definitely a solid argument that it's a worthy option. And while no one else would put it up there as best, I'm personally biased towards "Bedtime Stories" because Take a Bow is my favorite Madonna song & the defiant nature of Human Nature is also something I'm rather drawn to and those two songs alone boost the album way up in my rankings.

Personally, I wanted to nominate a Madonna album, but I could never narrow it down beyond these five options. It's like I can click on any Madonna album and find some big hits with something that I love, but I've never been attached enough to a complete album to give it a nom over any other album. Is this the best? Maybe, there are enough rankings putting it at the top that it probably is. But I feel there are a lot of other equally good options that it's not a clear winner.

(This is not exactly a critique of the album. I'd have the same response for just about any Madonna album with a real chance of having been nominated.)

I wanted something weird, experimental, and avantgarde for a change. So I got what I wanted out of this album.

Merry Go Bye Bye: I was starting to worry that all of my tastes had become rather normal and dull, as though I could no longer enjoy the bizarre. Then that part starting at 3:15 hits and oh yeah, that's the good stuff... and the Heavenly choir-esque part at the end of the song that breaks through the overwhelming chaos? 10/10 song.

Violenza Domestica: A villainous song with a deep voiced singer giving what's basically spoken word vocals? Yep, this is a collection of things I like, alright.

Everyone: The breakdown at the end of the song is pretty neat. Not legendary like "Merry Go Bye Bye"'s, but still neat.

Ma Meeshka: I hate the fake ending, but the rest of the song is good enough that I can forgive it.
