Back when i worked retail, my "team leader" was a real tryhard in that regard.

If lethal force is warranted you don't fire a warning shot. You just shoot to kill. The warning shot is used to stop a non-lethal situation from becoming one that warrants lethal force.

Pretty sure federal officials can use warning shots. It's just private citizens that can't.

From what ive read, they are only acceptable in places where lethal force would be applied if it is believed to de-escalate a situation.
