LOL at people who think capitalism wrecked the environment, when communist regimes are historically the biggest polluters. The SJWs are awfully silent in this thread.

I have watched every episode of the Simpsons and Family Guy. I started watching each when they first aired and have watched them every time they air. I used to record Simpsons on VHS and rewatch them all summer long when there weren't new episodes. Then the internet came along and I would get episodes that way. I bought every release of Simpsons and Family Guy DVDs (also Cleveland Show, Bob's Burgers, Futurama, The Critic, King of the Hill, etc). Now that streaming is a thing, I have an episode of SOMETHING on all the time. Usually it is just background noise while I am playing a computer game or cleaning the house or something like that.

Wow, you sure like Fox cartoons. What about actual good shows like South Park? Do you like those?

Dude's account is from 2002, he deserves an "Ok boomer."

Yeah, except that I was quite young when I made my account, and Im very much a Millenial. Oops. And the accounts of the next two posts after mine, which both disagreed with me, were also quite old, being from 2005 and 2006. And for all we know, both of them were substantially older than me when they made their accounts. So I dont see how account age is an accurate barometer of anything, really. Also, I see people with accounts made in 1999-2001 all the time. Go bother them.

Also, Im confused here. So Millenials and Zoomers like playing the same crap over and over again, rather than trying new games, and Boomers like a greater variety? Im sorry to hear that. I had no idea Boomers had such good taste. And Millenials like playing average 3D Zeldas way too often? What a shame. I guess I was born too late.

AllstarSniper32 posted...

lol, this made me think of coming up with "eras" for when accounts were made. You'd need to find the years where there was a boom in new accounts to find your account boomers though.

And would these different eras precisely tell us? Your account being from 2007, what exactly does that tell us? Please do tell. Im waiting with baited breath.

Google still doesn't recognize influencer as a word. In 2019. The gaslighting is absurd.
They also don't recognized gaslighting as a term either (but they do gaslight).

This is just another nauseating iteration of George Orwell's 1984, but for the current generation.

I know what a social media influencer is, and I know what gaslighting is, but Im not sure what you mean by google not recognizing either of those, particularly influencers, and how this relates to a dystopian society. Please expand on that thought.

As for your other points about gaming generations and types of gamers, you are pretty much on the nose with that. Gaming has changed over the years, and not always for the better. I agree with some of the advancements and changes in gaming though, like the largely more lenient and convienient saving features that have been implemented over the decades. The lack of saving was usually a by-product of technological limitations, combined with design choices rooted in arcades, that became extremely archaic and outdated on PC and consoles over the years. Many other design choices and advancements over the years however, have either been fads, novelties, or just plain bad or idiotic design, that unfortunately caught on with a fickle gaming public.

Judgmenl posted...
The Starting on PC types are kinda rare on GameFAQs. Much more popular on a site like Reddit. I don't really understand that background, but a lot of them started with games like Half Life and transitioned to do basically only competitive PC gaming.

This is a separate issue from the generational divide, but this is also pretty accurate. Gamefaqs has always been a site thats more for console gamers, and over the years, this distinction had gotten more pronounced. If you look at boards for many new PC games, even ones that are fairly popular, the boards are largely dead, and in many cases, completely empty. Theres not much of a PC scene here, and there never really was. Ive always found PC gamers to be a strange bunch. I have had friends and family members who started as console gamers, and transitioned into PC gamers as they got older, and I see many of the same patterns. PC gamers dont seem to enjoy just playing games in general, they seem to mostly value just playing the same games endlessly for years on end. Whether that be something like Skyrim, or Diablo, or Starcraft, or Minecraft, or CS, or Rainbow Six, or WoW, etc. PC gamers mostly get a game, and then feel that game needs to be some kind of a lifestyle, and stick to it, until the end of history. Now, I know there are console gamers like this also, especially in recent years, but mostly, it seems to me that console gamers value more variety, while PC gamers value loyalty to a single game. As someone who feels that variety is the spice of life when it comes to almost anything, I have always been a console gamer.

^Try playing good, old games that you never played before. Or new games with a retro aesthetic. Or good, old games that you played, but never beat, or only beat once, a long time ago. Theres plenty of options rather than playing the same crap over and over and over and over again, even if its a good game. If all else fails, read a book. You can even read a book about game history. I just dont agree with the obsessive replaying of games. Unless youre a speedrunner. But thats a whole other topic.

Also, Wind Waker, while I do like the game and beat it (once), its still one of the worst 3D Zeldas. Not worth playing endlessly.

I've come to this point where I just can't play games I've beaten several times anymore even though I feel like I want to.

Thats OK. Beating a game 5+ times and beyond isnt exactly normal. Playing a game 2-3 times, at the most, then moving on to the NEXT GAME, is a healthy amount of times to play a game. Try playing a new game. You are not exactly obligated to beat your favorite game 20 times. The fact that you dont want to do that anymore means that you are normal. If you wanted to continue doing that, you would be abnormal. Get it?

all i know about him is that people like to glue his UofT office door shut all the time

This is childish behavior and people who do this should be expelled from the university.

oh it certainly is childish - its also fuckin hilarious

So if I attended UofT and started gluing all of the doors shut of various liberal, SJW professors that I didnt like, that would be hilarious too, right? And Im sure Id find plenty of those sad excuses for professors all over campus; dare I say, MOST of the goofy professors Id encounter in a University located in Toronto would probably fit the description of being low-life, SJW cretins. So it seems to me that Id have a lot of gluing to do. Hilarious!

I have never once considered it anything other than rock.

For anyone interested, check out the Atreyu cover.

Your opinion is wrong. We cant all do opinions good, and clearly you cant:

1. Mike Patton raps during the song. Duh.

2. The track is classified as rap metal.

3. Its always been known as a rap rock song. This is well-established, and is nothing new.

4. There are valid claims that Anthony Keidis of the Chili Peppers ripped off the vocal style in Epic, on their hit Give It Away. Listen to them both, back to back. Give It Away also is classified as rap rock, and has rapping in it.

5. A cover version, which admittedly is more rock sounding than the original, doesnt prove anything. Using a cover version which is different, to make your point, is laughable.

It's rock. I don't think after the Aerosmith run dmc walk this way thing did we have rock mixed with rap until the late 90s with the horrible Korn/limp biscuit stuff.

Clearly you barely know what the fuck youre talking about. Other than the fact that Korn started in the mid 90s, youre also ignoring rap rock bands like Rage Against The Machine from the early 90s. Stupid. Maybe refrain from analyzing music again in the future.

As for Epic, it is and has always been considered rap rock. Its not really up for debate. The OPs friend is a moron. The song has always been recognized as a precursor to the nu-metal/rap rock genre. Wikipedia even classifies this song as rap metal. Not only this, but there used to be some controversy that The Red Hot Chili Peppers ripped off Mike Pattons vocals a bit in this song. Listen to Give It Away again, and then re-listen to Epic. I can hear it. Give It Away is rap rock also.

PS. This all being said, I dont even like rap rock (I do like Epic though), but at least I have working ears and a brain, that can recognize musical elements and genres. Ears. Try them some time.

Imagine arguing that a rock song with literal rapping in it isn't a rap rock song
