It's simple reality. Let's consider how impeachment works.

First of all, the House has to vote to impeach the president. A Republican-controlled House is literally never going to do this, but a Democratic-controlled one may, so if it happens, it happens no sooner than after the mid-term.

Then, the Senate has to consider the charges. Removing the president from office requires a 2/3 majority. Even if the Democrats somehow magically run-the-table in the mid-terms, they would have 52 votes. They would need fourteen Republicans to decide to vote to convict.

After this long, politically-treacherous, and exhausting process, you get President Pence.

And I'm assuming the Democrats vote in lock-step when they can't even all agree to block Kavanaugh. Also, regardless of what you think of the Mueller investigation, the average voter is much more concerned with other, more enduring issues.

Lots of states underfund their DMVs, and they're generally the only place to get photo I.D. of any kind, as well as having to process driving tests and everything else vehicle-related.
Like, there are literally places in this country where the nearest DMV is 20 miles away and its only open from 11-4 on every second Tuesday and fourth Thursday.

Even though 538 is about as liberal as it gets, their pollsters gave Trump around a 10-15% chance to win.

TopicWhy were the Mega Man X games much easier than the originals?
ElatedVenusaur
07/28/18 4:47:30 PM

The games expanded Mega Man's(and thus the player's) toolset. The first Mega Man game gives you, like, three good weapons, two useless weapons, and one situational weapon.
Mega Man 2 gives you Metal Blades, which are better than all of those combined(they're broken good, of course), but virtually all of the other weapons are good or at least have a use. And, oh yeah, there's now eight of them instead of six!
Mega Man 3 gives you the slide, which drastically increases your mobility and dodging capabilities, as well as featuring another really good set of weapons(only Spark Shot is bad).
Mega Man 4 gives you the charged shot, which enables you to deliver powerful attacks without even needing to rely on boss master weapons, and it STILL gives you some excellent tools to use.

Compare that to Mega Man X, where you can dash, climb walls, get eight robot master weapons, and all of your weapons can be charged. Your toolbox is comparatively huge.
Although it's true that this caused the games to become easier, it (more importantly) made them more fun to play.

The Bills start tomorrow.
I see many prognosticators predicting the Bills to have between 2-4 wins, but that is misguided*. This is because the Bills are not good at anything, not even being bad. They'll hobble to at 5-6 wins and pick no higher than 10th. Such is the way of the Bills.
*Offer not valid if Shady McCoy goes to jail, is seriously injured, or is accidentally killed in a bizarre accident after being struck by an errant Josh Allen pass.

The offense is going to be putrid. Our starting quarterback(s) are A.J. McCarron, Josh Allen, and Nathan Peterman. Our #1 receiver is Kelvin Benjamin, who last had a good season four years ago(the rest of our receivers are so bad that no one questions Benjamin being #1 receiver as a fait accompli). Our offensive line is bad.
The defense should be really good though, but it'll inevitably break-down when our offense fails to stay on the field ever.

You do not sound like a legit Bills fan. Kelly's cancer recovery is going to be a rallying point for this group. Josh Allen will immediately rise to the level of elite QBs, and McCoy will run away from defenses faster than he's escaping these false allegations of assault/robbery. I have faith that this crew can win the division and go even further.

I mean, if you want to put your faith in this offensive group and the schemes of ex-Browns and Dolphins offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, more power to you, but I've been watching this team for too long to believe they'll overperform, because they haven't done that since Doug Flutie was under center.

Mass Effect had The Citadel and Omega. The former is a textbook example of using a single locale to build a whole universe(literally!) whereas Omega does an excellent job of showing us the galaxy's dark underbelly.
Clock Tower in Majora's Mask and Midgar in FFVII are both fantastic examples.

I'd like to submit Blasted Tokyo and Infernal Tokyo from SMT IV for this as well. Neither has much actual "town" area, but they manage to do it a ton of world-building with just a little bit of town.
The Yamanote Circle(Tokyo) in the first Devil Survivor is really good too.

Is there supposed to be a takeaway here other than "if one political party screams about something enough, people will eventually circle their wagons and form increasingly polarized opinions on the topic?"

That is, in itself, a good takeaway. It shows that people can be persuaded if you make a case for or against something. People who use current polling as an excuse to not take a stand on an issue are misguided.

Amen.
