You kids are funny. Trump isn't leaving office until Jan. 20th, 2025.

Hilarious, as a passive outside observer to the U.S. it's pretty clear that Trump has damaged the Republican reputation so badly that they possibly won't get back into office for 2 or more terms. How someone can imagine a Trump 2020 victory as an encumbent who lost the popular vote whilst the republicans lose Alabama is insane to me, you are living in a false reality.

GWB had 2 terms

He did, but his approval didn't really start tanking until AFTER his re-election campaign(and Kerry ran an uninspired campaign.) Even then, his victory was narrow, and his explosive unpopularity led to Obama winning in the closest thing to a landslide we've seen since 1988.

In any case, it seems as though Mueller is nearing pay-dirt. At least, it seems Trump and Co. are getting desperate to make this go away. And, you know what? I think he will can Rosenstein and get Mueller shut-down, and I think the Republicans in Congress will go along with it, because they're desperate too and obviously don't care about popular opinion. And I think a bunch of news outlets are going to get their hands on a lot of really damaging documents right after that.

Considering that 10 point lead is Fox, I have a feeling they're fudging the numbers to get people scared and bolster their base into going out and voting. Don't think that stacks up with the other much closer polls.

They're not though: people are generally more motivated to show up to vote if they think their candidate will win, and conversely more likely not to bother if they think their candidate is going to lose.
And, in any case, Fox commissioned the poll, they didn't conduct it. Apparently they commission a pair of partisan pollsters(a Dem and a Rep pollster).

In any case, have a third poll from today: https://www.monmouth.edu/polling-institute/reports/MonmouthPoll_AL_121117/

Yeah, I do think Ghetsis underestimates Giovanni, and that is actually fitting: Ghetsis thinks he's smarter than everyone. Especially given that THIS Ghetsis was actually successful in his (original)scheme. He's bound to be overconfident.
As for Rainbow Rocket Giovanni, he never had to face Red. Being beaten by Red again and again crushed OTL Giovanni's confidence and led him to disband Team Rocket and withdraw to the shadows. THIS Giovanni was never stopped. He successfully came to dominate Kanto, then Johto, and beyond. His ever-growing power and influence has left him perpetually hungry for more, and the multi-verse beckoned. It may be that this Aether Foundation has the most advanced understanding of dimensions, and thus was a logical first-strike. THIS Giovanni; however, doesn't seem ready to give up.

Really, between Rainbow Rocket, Red&Blue making a cameo, Gladion going to Kanto, and USUM being the last 3DS pokemon games, it makes me think Gamefreak might end up doing a Kanto-Johto game based around the same time of USUM. It's probably 10-15 years after the events of the originals, and we'd be exploring Kanto and Johto in the timeline in which Megastones and Z-Crystals are things. It seems like a great way to simultaneously appeal to nostalgia while doing something new for Pokemon's first outing on the Switch(presumably).

How do I tell the game I don't want to go into hiding, it keeps telling me that

So are the 'random events' that come up often a big part of the game or a background thing? Is responding to those a major part of gameplay or are they mostly trivial?

They shape your character(and your wards), for better and for worse. Certain traits trigger different events or different event options, for example. If you have Way of Life, you can set a focus for your character that will sporadically trigger events relating to it, or perhaps give you the option to proactively do something(like hosting parties or going on a pilgrimage).
Also, the game is merely informing you that there are active plots against you from which you could hide. If you have poor intrigue and/or a bad spymaster and can't afford to die just yet, it can be a good decision. Hiding, of course, has negative consequences.
As for councilors, you generally want loyalty and for the relevant stat to be high. Disloyal councilors can be dangerous(especially disloyal spymasters).

FE7, comparatively, is very tight mechanically and the simplicity makes it both easier to grasp, but also more challenging. It also has the strongest story in the entire series.

EUIV and CK2 have new expansions(accompanied, of course, by large patches).

CK2 is getting Jade Dragon, which is $15. It adds a boatload of special mechanics and events to simulate China as an off-map power. These honestly seem cool, but the price is a little high. And if you mostly play in Europe, it won't bring much to the table for you.
The patch is ginormous and it can be found on Paradox's site. It includes a map expansion into Tibet as well as the usual truckload of fixes and optimizations.

EUIV is getting Cradle of Civilization. The expansion mostly expands upon the Muslim piety mechanics and gives out some unique governments(Ardabil/Persia gets one, the Mamluks get one, and the Timurids/Aq Qoyunlu/Qara Qoyunlu share one). At $20, I can't recommend it.
The patch; however, has all sorts of goodies, including a massive map overhaul for the Middle East, Persia, and Central Asia that promises to make it a much more dynamic place to play.

Last but not least, today's Stellaris Dev Diary revealed that the upcoming patch(Cherryh) will make Ascension Perks available to everyone, not just players with the Utopia expansion. Only the special ascension perks will be locked behind expansions i.e. the Genetic Mastery/Synth/Psionic paths from Utopia and Machine Worlds from Synthetic Dawn. Wiz wants to do a lot more with them.

This is heartening, because CK2 and especially EUIV have been hurt by having certain mechanics tied-up in expansions. Retinues for CK2, and development and estates for EUIV.

Which Paradox series is your favorite?

Let's do a Paradox topic, as a lot is going down. Feel free to share your (mis)adventures.

Crusader Kings 2 is getting a new expansion(Jade Dragon), which is rumored to be the penultimate CK2 DLC. Jade Dragon is mostly focused around simulating China as an off-map power which on-map rulers can interact with(and that China can interact with). The expansion itself seems strong, with the caveat that it applies almost exclusively to the eastern end of the map, so definitely not worth it if that's not your cup of tea.
It is, of course, being accompanied by a (massive) patch. Changelog is in below link(as well as a picture of the physical patch notes): https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/ck2-dev-diary-74-patch-notes-achievements.1053632/

Europa Universalis IV is also getting an expansion, the Cradle of Civilization. It focuses on mechanics for Middle Eastern and Near Eastern powers(particularly the Mamluks, Aq Qoyunlu, Qara Qoyunlu, Persia, and the Timurids) as well as a (dubious) professionalism mechanic for armies.
The patch has all the good stuff, so it should be easy to pass on CoC, is what I'm saying, as it seems imminently extraneous.

Stellaris is currently being overhauled in a giga-patch with no firm release date, as of yet. The patch, among other things, brings starbases(which completely replace spaceports and outposts), needing to build outposts(level 0 starbases) to claim systems, a complete overhaul of FTL travel(warp and wormholes are dead), and galactic terrain(pulsars disable shields, ships cannot see into systems in nebulae, etc.) Details below.
