But to be fair though none of the Mortal Kombat (or Injustice) games have a good story other than 9, just because it condenses most of the previous games and reboots the story.

They typically have a story that isn't played out through 20 minute cutscenes

I'm not saying his death is guaranteed - he's still more likely to survive than not - but you seem to be blind-faithing this that he's going to survive, no questions asked.

There's a very low chance he gets symptoms that are so bad that it is impossible to keep him alive. And the hospital won't let him die to save resources.
