The fact that the PS2 is the best selling video game console of all time proves that power isn't everything. Sure xbox was more powerful, but it had a god awful controller and you couldn't watch your dvds on it.

That alone gave PS2 a huge edge. Not to mention it had better exclusives and a more well rounded library.

There's nothing hardcore about Fallout 4's survival mode. It's called tedium. I don't have an hour to walk across the boston wastes because a game-mode doesn't want to allow fast travel. It doesn't make the game any more difficult. If I've made the trip once, I can make it back the other way just fine.

You want something hardcore? Play super metroid without getting e-tanks and limiting your supply of power-ups.
Play fallout 4 on very hard without wearing armor (or ballistic weave) and without companions, while not allowing yourself to take the OP perks like blitz, better criticals and critical banker. Or rule out vats entirely.

There's lots of ways to make fallout 4 more challening while still being fun, as opposed to a mode than makes you sleep to save your game (again, doesn't make the game any more difficult, just tedious and annoying) and disallows fast travel (even more tedium).

I drove without a license for 13 years. Got my permit when I was 16.
I was fortunately never pulled over during that time, and still retain a clean driving record.
I am genetically predisposed to being awake at night and taking a driver's test at 8am was never really high up on my to do list.

Also, to those of you who failed the written portion. You can study online. Also, if you've been on the road enough with someone else, most of the questions they ask you are pretty much common sense. If you can't pass the written test you probably shouldn't be on the road to begin with, for your safety, and more importantly, MY safety.

Children pick up a lot of bad behaviors from their delinquent friends at school. Kids whose parents are also pieces of shit and doesn't teach them any better.

Besides, a good at-home teacher will expose their kids to all kinds of social situations, as well as go on field trips and do outdoor activities.
At-home teaching is more than giving your kids pamphlets to fill out and teaching them maths, science and proper English.

You have to play differently.

If you were actually doing the story quests you wouldn't run from point to point. You'd move when necessary, plan stopping points, stock up cautiously and do what's near, not what's preferred.

This, its more realistic. Youre not going to travel across the map to deliver a non-urgent item when you have other more pressing things to do. Priorities.

I think I'm in the majority here, but I could be wrong. However, I don't play games because they're like real life. I play them because they AREN'T like real life. Fallout new vegas had the better survival mode. Plain and simple.

While games like candy crush are technically games. People who play them don't consider themselves gamers. And people who consider themselves gamers don't typically play games like candy crush.

So just because a large number of moms play candy crush doesn't mean there's suddenly a huge amount of female gamers.

Ask any candy crusher what their favorite RPG is and they'll probably give you a blank stare or a puzzled look in return. "What's an RPG?"

Lack of fast travel makes survival painful and boring. New Vegas did it right.
You can die of thirst, hunger or sleep deprivation by fast traveling in NV, in 4 you simply can't fast travel.

It's dumb, and the distances you're expected to cover for certain quests makes it a chore to play. Not to mention sleeping to save your game.
