Don't worry too much about the ending, once you've done with the series move on to End of Evangelion for an alternative ending to the series.

Then after that, if you're still interested there's the Rebuild of Evangelion. Basically, 3 movies (with the final movie supposedly coming out next year) The movies are more or less a remake of the anime up to a certain point then it goes in its own direction.

Good to know, I thought it was just the one show and that was it.

I'm on the 8th episode and it's pretty good I think. Nice take on TV tropes and breaking sterotype characters. Got into it after a friend dared me to watch it.
