Sometimes a game just can't work in 3rd person. Might have something to do with the character animation and how they interact with the world or some other variables.

They want you to have that claustrophobic feeling in crowds and they mentioned how modifiers are seen. Apparently your hud and visual modifications will be very important in first person.

Cyberpunk 2077 isn't a new IP. It's based on the Cyberpunk 2020 tabletop RPG from 1988. The creator of that game, Mike Pondsmith, is even collaborating with CDProjekt RED on Cyberpunk 2077.

We got a chance to sit down with Peter Gelencser, the lead level designer on Cyberpunk 2077, and ask him his thoughts on the audience reaction. Gelencser explained,

"First and foremost, I really enjoy all the attention the subject is getting, because it's important. This has been an educated decision. The first-person point of view is there so you can see things happening up close, and so you can really interact with things in a visceral manner. with the game world." He continued. "It worked out well with our exploration of the genre."

He then went on to explain more of the philosophy of how you present perspective in games, saying,

"Third-person works well in games like the Witcher when you have a lot of motion and movement around you. But when all the things happen to you, from you, within you, first person point of view is the right decision to take, especially because of the augmentations."

This seems blatantly obvious as I rewatch the gameplay from earlier.

Ability to kill some assists
Faster and cinematic Smashes
Directional air dodge
Dodge vulnerability
Easier short hopping
Quick smash
Shield parry's

How does this make you feel? I haven't played a smash since Brawl, but I was planning on going back if this one has good online.

If they say you can toggle in car, but no mention of it in normal gameplay I think we can assume its fps only. That's what sounds like, but who knows. Game is probably 2 years away at least and anything can change.

Some highlights.

CD Projekt describes the game as a "first-person RPG."
Gameplay is in first a first-person perspective, but switched to third-person during a cutscene.
You play a character named V (as in the letter).
V can be a man or a woman.
The stats you pick it the start include Strength, Constitution, Intelligence, Reflexes, Tech, and Cool.
You can drive cars in the game, and seemingly toggle between first and third person during this.
While driving in first-person, the U.I. appears diegetically on the windshield.
It's an open world that you open up more with "street cred."
Damage numbers pop up during combat. (Eww)
There's a bullet-time-like ability that allows you to slow down time.
You use an inhaler to heal.
Gunplay feels slower than Doom or Borderlands, but faster than Fallout 4.
CD Projekt showed off some late-game abilities, including mantis-like blade arms and wall running.
We saw a boss fight against a dude in an exoskeleton. This included sliding under cars and taking cover.

I highly doubt this is all leading to a 100 character smash bros. Eventually there will be characters removed and added in new iterations.

Microsoft did the best. Doesn't matter if there was a lot of multiplatform games.

They got to show off DMC5, Sekiro, and that new Cyberpunk trailer first. That's a win.

I rate the presentations as a whole and it's ability to get me excited about games. I liked Sony's, but Microsoft's was better paced and had something for everyone.

Its the only game that I put the effort in to get a refund for. It was a great concept that became unplayable while they actively denied that the problems existed.

What are they going to do differently?

I haven't played it, but I heard the same thing. I'm willing to at least try the game now.

They see how successful R6S is now after a mediocre launch and they're using the same model with FH.

Giving the game away for free and focusing on dlc and game improvements instead of starting on a sequel.

Only downside is the hesitance towards Uplay.
