Trump started all the divide because they were trying their best to keep the economy going at least until the election. They knew lockdowns would destroy the economy. He tried avoiding it as much as he could up until the point where they realized not doing anything would rapidly make things worse before the election and thats when he finally changed his mind. His rhetoric this whole time was to project optimism so the markets and outlook wouldn't crash. Which I don't blame him for but he didn't do it the right way. He did it in a way that minimized how dangerous the virus and for the most part didn't take things seriously. His followers always had that skepticism in their minds from the beginning because of him, and the root cause was to protect his own job (presidency). Thats why despite peak covid numbers ravaging this country, and again covid filling up hospitals and ICU beds, killing off 670k people already, people are still skeptical. I mean these are ordinary people - my neighbors who are firefighters, cops, engineers, teachers - these guys all jump on the slightest conspiracy theory that downplays the situation. They will never change. Their family members could die of covid and they will never change.

so when you were posting how you voted for trump you did so as a?

I never votd for trump, I've been adamently anti-trump. Infact trump enacted the salt cap and liberals are supporting it. If Trump decides to reverse his original policy then I'd support him.

Right now the dems are going to reverse it because of the bipartisan salt caucus. But most dems seem to be opposed to lifting the cap, so I dont know how things will change in the future.

These SALT cap debates got me all worked up. Its my #1 issue above all else. Above debating marginal tax rates, abortion, military spending, education, foreign affairs, immigration, etc.

I will pretty much exclusively vote for whoever uncaps the SALT deduction, regardless of who they are - even if that means I'm voting for Trump, Cruz, or Desantis.

I know trump and covid exposed the worst in the right wing, but salt cap relief opposition has really exposed the leftists for being selfish as well. Not saying the left wing is as bad as the right wing, but they are most definitely not the "good guys" that they portray themselves to be.

Just 10 more months until I get to move out of this shit hole.

Literally 300 days and 16 more hours.

I initially came in with an open mind and tried to erase all preconcieved notions of this place and give it a fair chance. Theres certainly some positives. But the longer I live here, the more I grow tired of this place. It really sucks. If you're not a racist redneck, I don't get why you don't just move. Save up some money and move anywhere. Theres so many better places to live in this country.

I just found this brief paper by the authors of the well done cochrane review talking about how the other meta analysis papers are bullshit. This is exactly what I was telling you guys in my last post.

I can't wait to move back to California where I can be in a progressive bubble.

Problem is the area I want to move to has a good share of Trumpers. Placer and El Dorado county all voted Trump in the last election. Sacramento county overwhelmingly voted Biden. The only central valley county to vote Biden is Fresno, good for them. Fresno is also fast becoming the only central valley city thats not a pure shit hole.

I miss the Bay Area more and more.

What were these inherent differences?

Long story short, she was an emotional person, I'm a cerebral person. Obviously I have emotions but it doesn't dictate my response to things. For her it did and she couldn't control her emotions. I could give more examples but this was also like 10+ years ago, so I'll have to actually sit down and think about the details.

Another thing is once I started dating a normal person again, it really hit me how significant her craziness was.

I never had a 5 year relationship break off but I had a serious long term relationship break. I kept dwelling on "why" and "what did I do wrong" "what could I have done differently"

Biggest thing that helps is focusing on yourself, working out, buy some new clothes, look good, build up that confidence again. I also made some female friends. It actually helps to be in the presence of a female in this situation. Eventually it really sunk in that it wasn't meant to be. We had inherent differences that just weren't going to let it work out and it just wasn't meant to be. Like I finally understood "why" it didn't work and why things would have just gotten worse the longer it went. Once those feelings detach you're pretty much back to normal, if not better than normal because you've learned from your mistakes.

Yeah dude, only doctors truly understand how research and statistics work, you got it.

This is my point, the fact that you completely missed the point. The part that I meant only doctors understand is interpreting the data, putting it into context, AND how to make clinical decisions based on that. So yea sure anyone that understands research and stats can read and interpret the ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine studies, but you need to be a doctor to be able to put it into context and say this is something that should or shouldn't be done in clinical practice, which is really what matters most at the end of the day.
