The difference between France and the US basically is that Americans generally make a lot more money than people in France do but France has a lot better social programs, including a lot more automatic days off (which is partly why they don't make as much). This is true in other countries too but France is the most prominent example I can think of with their RTT and 35 hour work weeks.

Different people want different things, so it's pretty stupid to say "America is a third world country" because it isn't perfect in your view or because there are other countries you like more.

I've just started buying and selling stocks in January. I've made about $700 so far. I have to keep in mind though they will tax me apparently.

$700 is nothing compared to what you could make holding long term.

The more money you have, the more it makes sense to focus on the short term. Let's say you invested $7000 and you made $700... If you had invested $70 million you would have made $7 million.
