I don't whether it's considered a retcon for Starlight to go from a child left alone most of her life to... a parent who coddles her constantly? And the relationship with Sunburst and his mother was fun to watch too. Anyways, good episode. Celestia was great as a bad actress, we had a bit of stressed Twilight which always brings good times, even if she outright ignored the fact that Honesty is one of the Elements of Harmony and a key component of Friendship. The whole setting of the theatre was amazing and I really loved watching it. However, not to completely tear into a new writer, but... some of the things in that script felt like pure fanfiction! Rainbow Dash darting away with a Rainboom. Pinkie's silliness getting in the way of Applejack's seriousness. Fluttershy getting over stage fright off screen because she did it in the past with the show. Spike being the straight man, the voice of reason. Characterization of old background ponies. Trixie's Back-Alley fireworks sale. Return of Flutterlestia. And the school cast was completely silent, as it should be. :) Fake It 'Til You Make It > Horse Play > The Maud Couple > Surf And/Or Turf > School Daze, Pt. 2 > School Daze, Pt. 1 > Grannies Gone Wild I think a lot of charm was the fact that the writing was so simple and it was nice to have a speck of characterization for Celestia for once. DStone39 04/21/18 12:09:28 PM #165	Okay, maybe this might be from me living in a border town and firmly believing that borders and walls shouldn't keep families apart, but the episode pretty much meandered around the idea of Terramar being a transborder creature. Also, it's in his name. Terra. Mar. Earth. Sea. I did like the Epic Rap Battle between Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo, but I really didn't think it had to threaten their friendship. And of course, Apple Bloom had to play the straight mare in the trio. Twilight was kind of adorkable, but it didn't revolve around books, so it felt kinda flat for me. The explanation around the pearl was... whatever. I don't understand how Mount Aris became a peninsula with a working train track to the Friendship Express. Did Rockhoof use his legendary strength to create new land? And the closest thing to the mainland to Mount Aris was Klugetown, which was not exactly friendly to Equestria last we saw it (even with the Pirate takeover). Overall, the narrative was nice but average at best. Might be good for some new art though. Think in my mind I compared it too much to Ghost Recon Wildlands and noticed the very familiar formula that made up the skeleton of the game. Granted, the game has many great things going for it, but I guess it wasn't the breath of fresh air I was hoping for. The Summoning demotions make my inner collector happy. Stamina reductions are also great along with new and improved Tempest Trials PLUS!
