This is what makes it tough, what's different about that one disc? I mean is it a different region, bootleg, rerun, or anything unusual? I'll admit I use my older music CD's more often than my classic games because of my backlog, but unless I magically find something that won't play on functional hardware I haven't seen anything go bad outside of a save battery. Look at how some NES/SNES units discolored because of the chemicals used. I got lucky, mine were unaffected later models. Place or time of production changes things. --- If you're mod, GTFO. Those discs wont last forever. Given the choice, I'll have more control over how long my games last on disc than hoping servers stay up. So far I've not had any issues with my discs other than some very cheap CDR's where the data layer wasn't part of the 'sandwich'. After so many trips in and out of the wallet the top scratched/flaked off and took my music with it. Data rot is just hype from cloud based companies. If you have the carts then a console would feel more authentic. If you're just looking to play a bunch of games without the expense there's several emulation boxes that let you play way more than the few a hardware device will support. Any big game with multiple story based DLC's is a likely candidate for GOTY when they want to boost late sales. Border, Bioshock, Horizon, RE7...
