I must say, it does depend on the show. If the show is trying to tell one over arching story per season 6-12 is great. If it's an episodic show like a medical/legal/cop drama I still like a standard TV length of 20-25 episodes since, while there are often on-going threads, each episode is mostly its own thing. These are also for hour* long episodes, half-hour* long episodes can have a few more episodes if they want.

*Generally in that range of length. Not all hour long shows get to or stop at an hour for various reasons.

What's amazing to me about the billion dollar list is that a week ago people were calling Avatar 2 the biggest flop even and now it's over a billion in under two weeks.

Anyway, I've only had the misfortune of seeing two of the movies in the poll, SW:EP 1 and JW2 and Those Jurassic World movies are garbage. Luckily for me I could see how bad the first Pirates and Transformers movies were and got off those trains fast. Everybody needs to stop lying to themselves, not even the first in those series were any good.

It's not a good movie. The Rock was very bland. Virtually no charisma. Stupid/bad misdirect that doesn't work and leads to a "reveal" anyone would see a hundred miles away.

The movie is constantly telling not showing, especially with Hawkman's garbage dialogue. Also if I hear the phrase "I'm not a hero" one more time in any movie I will probably just walk out after this.

The "natives" really don't make it clear enough that the Justice Society, in trying to stop Adam, are propping up a regime that is clearly a Taliban analogue. This is the part of the movie I hate the most. They could have really given the movie some great dramatic tension with this aspect, and they basically throw it away because "we can't really make American superheroes look out of touch and doing more harm than good."

The main villain was basically stupid, tacked on at the last minute nonsense. I'll say no more to avoid spoilers.

Pierce Brosnan was alright, but his role in the movie is nowhere near big enough to save it. Also there were two other super heroes and I'm not going to pretend I don't remember their names, but I don't remember them contributing anything to the story other than "hi, I'm here too!"

Yeah, so my biggest positive is Pierce Brosnan was alright in his small, second tier role.

Congrats, Neon. You win. Really thought everyone would want to do a Weird Al-bum so I nominated one of the more consistent ones.

(Darkx, you probably shouldn't have nominated a third album from the same artist so soon - maybe in a year, sure, but right now it's way too early, and would put her at over 3% of the total)
This is how I expect to feel when my next nom is up.

There were some highlights to this album, I'll admit. The problem is the scant few original songs aren't among them. Those actually drag the album down further. If I were to attend a family Christmas gathering and had the chance to adds some songs to the playlist I really think I stop after the top two songs on here. The next three I'd opt for the original and the rest can burn.

Silent Night - Despite my general disposition towards Christmas music this is truly beautiful. It almost feels like it's coming off a PS1 era FF game soundtrack. It's epic, it's bold, it has range that actually hits emotionally in ways the original can't, at least for me. This actually feels like a good memory relived. I wish she could have knocked every song out of the ballpark like this.

I Saw Three Ships - I don't believe I've ever heard this before. It feels jaunty and has almost a Celtic feel to it. We had to lose songs like this to boomer xmas music?

What Child is This? - Let's be honest, it's a bit of a stretch to say the song is an xmas song. Without the lyrics isn't it really Greensleeves? And with the way it's been reworked here it does not feel Christmassy at all. In fact, I'd expect this rendition of the song to show up (in pieces) in some epic LotR type film.

You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch - I like this okay. Why is it that a song like this, despite its particular age, is not among the super common Xmas songs? I dunno, but I guess never hearing it more than a couple times a year has saved it for me.

All I Want For Christmas - Good call making this instrumental only.

Carol of the Bells - Intriguing intro. Then it becomes something relatively plain. I will say I think this is the best rendition of the song I've heard.

Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy - This is an okay rendition of a Christmas song that I actually thought was already alright as-is, but as a result it may as well not exist.

Time To Fall In Love - Dumb, repetitive, annoying, but not entirely repulsive...

Christmas C'mon - Lindsey, c'mon. Oh boy, I hope this is the worst original on here...

Warmer in Winter - This is in many ways everything about boomer Christmas music that I hate. Oh boy, would a song have to be awful to rank lower

Angels We Have Heard on High - While I don't quite hate this version of the song, I hate what it represents to me. It represents a tradition of the church I was raised in (the same denomination as Lindsey). These are not good memories to me.

Let it Snow - The epitome of the worst of Christmas music. I'd rather stab my eardrums and deafen myself than listen to this crap again.

Jingle Bell Rock - Entirely repulsive. This is the boomer idea of "modernizing" Christmas music and it sounds like something Cthulhu would use to drive a person mad. Why didn't I stab myself in the ears after Let it Snow?

So I must say, I'm pretty happy to see the way people have responded to this album overall. I actually considered putting All Through the Night as my number 1 as few of you have. I somehow had l this notion in my mind that I was the only one who loved that song as much as I do.

I also agree to a point about He's So Unusual. It is easily the weakest track on the album. I don't think it's unnecessary, though. I actually think keeping it at that quality helps accentuate the sort of Betty Boop kind of quality that Cyndi has, though it might have been better as a "secret track" after the rest of the album had finished.

Oh yeah, I did listen to this a few days ago, still need to do my ranking.

Well, I guess this can't even be my favorite "boundary-pushing female vocal pop album of 1983" then.
I have an idea why you'd say that, but would rather hear it from you than assume.

Also, despite the exact release date of the album, it was 1984 that Cyndi absolutely dominated (as in #1 artist overall, gender be damned)

So, imo, I think anonymous voting is still overall a good thing. There are probably a couple of lurkers that just don't want to participate but do want see what others have to say about the music they like. If such people are out there, I wouldn't want them to feel excluded.

However, what has happened to this week's poll seems to be pretty obvious vote stuffing. When all of the regular voters had their say there was one very clear winner. Now somehow an entry with very few votes has moved up to first and the vote count is above norm? Yeah, that's obvious cheating. I absolutely would do that album if it won fair and square, but if we take this result as-is I'm dipping out that week in protest.

I think we can use common sense reason here in order to determine which album won fair and square. Hopefully that will be enough to tell the stuffer that they are wasting their time. If we have to change things up, though, then we have to change things up.

Such an incredible album. It is absolutely pure 80s tripple distilled and 10 times filtered - the hard stuff. There is not a single song on this album I don't like, not even the quirky little "He's So Unusual." When a song that slaps as hard as "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" can still be topped by so many songs you know you're listening to pure gold.

1 Time After Time
2 All Through the Night
3 She Bop - Ain't no law against it yet ;p
4 When You Were Mine
5 Money Changes Everything
6 Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
7 Yeah Yeah

A great artist with an uneven album. The highest highs it hits are so amazing, but plenty opf tracks drag the album as a whole down. There are two song ovewr nine minutes? Ugh. Sometimes this album makes me ask "is this really Greenday?" I just don't know how you can open on an absolute 10/10 banger and follow it up with a 9 minute slogfest. Still, the top songs make it worth it.
