If you want a game with a different mana system, then go play that.

Yeah, sometimes you get mana fucked, or flooded, but if you gave it a guaranteed mana ramp it wouldnt be the same game. There are so many strategies that would be turned on their head, and the variety of play would objectively go down.

TIL that if you cast Alrund's Epiphany 4 times in a row it gives you exactly enough birds to swing for 20 damage by the final extra turn even if you have nothing else going on.

No comment as to how I came upon this information.

This information bugs me because I've been done in by an Alrund's out of left field so many times lately lol.

I've played like 200 matches this week, I don't know why but I've been addicted.

I made a monoblack zombie decay deck thats a lot of fun, and a sloppy dungeon delve deck that in one match hit so right that I ventured into a dungeon 8 times in one turn, each of those actions proccing twice--it was awesome.

Ive been playing soooo much this week, like 2 or 3 hours a day, procrastinating at work lol.

In an attempt to avoid meta I made a red/white equipment deck, using things like Bruenor Battlehammer and Halvar, God of Battle.

Its working great so far.

3-3 on Ikoria, first loss was an awesome match that went back and forth, he killed me at 2 life with a flyer I couldnt block.

Next two were mana screws, felt bad :( Especially the first one, I drew 0 land in my starting hand somehow, then only drew 2 blue on my second, and never saw another land until I lost. My hand when I died was five 1-2 drop red spells and I just couldnt pull red.

lol ended up 2-3.

I managed to draft a Gonti, but somehow literally never saw him in any of my matches.

One match even went like 20 turns, and I held onto a card to exile and return my own creature to the battlefield waiting for him, and it never happened, was such a bummer.

My draft looked good, but the first match I played, around turn 4 the guy proceeded to play a Barricade Breaker for the next 3 turns.

I have a new suggestion, Just King Things, a podcast going over every Stephen King book, in release order.

I only just listened to the first episode (Carrie), and it started a little rough as they explained the premise and kinda workshop some segments, but the parts about the book itself are extremely captivating, so much so that I started reading Salems Lot in preparation for the next ep.

Actually if you want fun, the Bant Party deck looks quite fun and also is maybe a high tier deck in the format right now. I haven't played or looked at the format much myself but Huey Jensen has it at 3rd in his power rankings.

Shadowrun for SNES and Genesis, for different reasons.

I rented Shadowrun for the Genesis strictly because the logo was cool, and then it was a straight up third person shooter/open world RPG for the fucking Sega Genesis and it was fucking incredible.

Then a year later or so I borrowed my neighbors SNES and rented the SNES version, thinking Id play one of my old favorite games again, and then BAM, its a totally different game, this one a third person shooter/open-world adventure game RPG, and its just as good but totally different.

Just an incredible pair of games that totally blindsided me.
