I mean, you seem to be somewhat of an audiophile, and CD's are objectively lower-quality than many downloaded tracks. I would have thought you'd have made the switch as soon as it became possible to buy high-quality single tracks instead of entire albums of compressed stuff.

As somebody who mostly listens to classical music, I actually find having less dynamic range makes modern stuff easier to listen to. Classical music doesn't record well simply because of the dynamic contrast, which means I have to turn up the volume to be able to hear the quiet parts and turn down the volume to not suffer hearing damage in the loud parts. Not having to do that is certainly convenient.

I don't think I'm really that much of an audiophile. I have decent headphones, but I mostly listen to 320 Kbps MP3 CD rips and I can't tell the difference between that and FLAC. I buy CDs because I like owning music. It's nice having a physical booklet to flip through and being able to sell it if I want. I can't sell high-res audio files and they're way more expensive than CDs.

I haven't listened to classical music, so I don't know how high dynamic range affects it. With the rock music I listen to, it's usually just drum hits that are louder than the rest of the music, so I don't have to adjust the volume to not risk hurting my ears.

Why is "dynamic range" the only thing that's important to you in music? What about songwriting, or lyricism, or groove, or any number of factors in a musical piece that would draw you to it?

Because some albums are released on vinyl with more dynamic range than the CD version (like Stadium Arcadium or Random Access Memories). Vinyl is too much of a bitch for me to deal with and the sound quality is worse than CD.

in order for an emulator to run, it needs the bios of the console it's emulating.

Most emulators don't need a BIOS. For example, Cemu doesn't need a BIOS. It's not illegal to have a BIOS and it's not illegal to obtain if you dump it yourself. Also, so what if someone illegally obtains a console's BIOS. Just because something is illegal doesn't mean it's wrong.

I did mean running emulators on a PC. The consoles I was talking about are the Wii, Wii U, and 3DS.

I'd love to see Persona 3 and 4 rereleased with the improvements of the later games like being able to save anywhere and seeing the available social links and if they'll rank up on a world map. Persona 3 especially needs the improvements of the later games. In 3 you don't get explicitly told if a social link will rank up before you hang out with them and there's only two permanent save points in the game.

Jet Set Radio Future also needs to be rereleased. It's stuck on a console with terrible emulators and the official emulation on the Xbox 360 also sucks. It slows down so bad it's unplayable on the 360.
