By the way, we were part of an interesting audience. I was shocked at how young the average person was (several teens and a couple children-children there with questionable parents). I wouldn't be surprised if more people in that theater were under 21 than over. I got the feeling that most of these people just saw the trailer during IT the weekend before and decided to check it out. Needless to say, it wasn't what they were expecting and I don't think it was well received at all by our audience.

The audience was also disrespectful talking asswipes, another thing I chalk up to the average age. Not sure if I want to catch another movie in the ghetto part of town.

Saw it, loved it, but some of the comments had piqued my hype level to def con 5, and believe it or not I left the theater feeling like the movie wasn't weird enough. It was definitely bizarre but not quite as abstract as I was expecting. Maybe Twin Peaks has just warped my perception of these things.

Absolutely incredible acting, btw. Lawrence and Bardem are world class.

Like i thoughy dustin was just a social nerd who after he got some would normal out. But he was just a straight crazy person and weird as fuck.

Yeah, he was weird the whole time, but I don't think he started out crazy. He suffered from a notable lack of confidence, but regular sex (from an older social elite woman who risked so much to be with him) was too big a shot in the arm. It gave him too much confidence at once, enough such that he brazenly moved in on (and immediately won over) Elaine, a girl most would consider outside his league. He basically experienced years of relationship maturity in a month, and it was impossible for him to balance his newfound confidence with his awkward nature, so it all blew up in his face (and he took several others crashing down with him).

But in most cases, a manager began as a staff who was seen as competent enough in their duties to warrant a promotion. Of course that does not directly correlate with smarts, but neither does being a staff in the first place.

Maybe a bit more often than the reverse, but not significantly often.

Totally agreed.

I think it's more likely that a manager is smarter than their staff versus the other way around. Would anyone really presume the opposite?
